  • Hi Cactoblastoff, thanks for joining Wikipedia. The article below (is it a draft?) would be much better placed on a sub-page, rather than on your user talk page, where it might mislead readers into thinking that it's a real article. If you like, I can move if for you, and you can work on it just the same. Let me know. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 15:48, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

User talk:Cactoblastoff, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. I have moved the page to User:Cactoblastoff/Temp to separate it from the talk page. Cunard (talk) 23:19, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Information

[edit]

Hiya Cactoblastoff. I know Wikipedia can be a little confusing for new editors, but here are a couple of points regarding what has gone on here over the last few days:

  • User talk pages (like this one) are for discussions between editors about article/other things on Wikipedia, not for creating drafts of articles.
  • Temporary drafts of articles can be made in what is known as a "sandbox" within your userspace, for example, if you wanted to draft a new article before it went what is known as "live" (or in the "article space"), you could do it on a page such as User:Cactoblastoff/Sandbox.
  • Duplicates of existing articles are not permitted, and it is bad practice to duplicate an article in your userspace/sandbox. Reason for this is, a different editor may make changes/expand an article while you are doing your changes, and if you copy your changes over the new article, the "in between" edits are lost.
  • If you copy an article from one place to another (which is generally bad practice, with the exception of a few cases), you have to provide attribution to the previous authors (for example, it looks like you alone wrote the article above), this attribution can be as simple as a link to the original article.

I hope these points will help you in your Wikipedia career, please feel free to drop a note on my talk page if you have any additional questions, I would be happy to help out. Cheers. --kelapstick(bainuu) 23:34, 14 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
