More category cruft?
Howdy, newly-appointed-administrator-christopher-griswold! :D
One "Creepy Crawler" (talk | contribs) has created the categories Dr. Seuss actors and People who Portrayed a Comic Book Villain. I was thinking that you, being a newly-appointed-administrator and all, would have some advice on how to approach this situation. I'm all ears and eyes, sir! Ace Class Shadow; My talk. 22:35, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Phoenix IX
Regarding your recent changes to Phoenix, he really is called "Phoenix IX" in the comics, beginning with GALACTIC GUARDIANS #1. Hokey as it sounds. -- StAkAr Karnak 21:01, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Response to Chris
This being related to discussion on the Talk: Avengers Disassembled-
- I agree that it might have been better for CyberGhostface to bring this up on the talk page first. When he deleted that selection, I didn't necessarily agree with him, but he has at least made a reasonable argument for its removal. You have made personal accusations. Drop the "long-term Wikipedian" and jealousy accusations; they are not becoming, and it comes across as edit count envy. Talk about the content, not the user, so we can actually discuss this. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 15:02, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe I would be more civil if people would approach me on my edits rather than deleting right away. But everytime some deletes my contributions, they don't even tell me about it. Kind of like they hope I won't find out about the deletion. I guess being a newbie makes it ok for other to dump on me Yes, I'm still new, but for some reason this computer I'm on mixed me onto someones profile). You want to delete a contribution I make fine, but talk to me about it rather than hoping I won't notice. Still think no one is malicius towards me 71.115.231.16 07:12, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's the most ridiculous thing I've run across on Wikipedia for quite some time. Inform an anonymous editor whenever their contributions are removed... CovenantD 06:31, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- What will help is if you register. I know that I tend to expect unregistered users to be hit-and-runners, people who stop by to make an edit, very often an act of vandalism and then take off and never re-appear. We tend not to expect anonymous users to actually care about their edits because they haven't taken the time and made the near-effortless effort to register. In addition to other editors realizing you actually care, registering will make it even easier for other editors to contact you personally and will provide much more anonymity than will your home's IP address. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 06:37, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Problem is that the computer I use reboots/resets everytime, so changing would be redundant. As for not expecting anonymous users to care, kind of borderlines on the whole accusations doesn't it? 71.115.231.16 07:12, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Does it? I don't recall accusing you of anything. Hey, have you heard the good word? --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 07:13, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- You accuse the anonymous user (that's me) of not caring, so yeah. 71.115.231.16 08:03, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for kind comment
I just wanted to say thanks for your kind and thoughtful response to my comment on the User:Homosexual RfC. Rock on! I also see they just handed you a mop, so congratulations on that as well! --JaimeLesMaths 08:42, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Another revert?
If you have such a problem with my "style", why don't you fix it instead of changing what I said? And you'll notice, I don't abbreviate names in the text. I presumed you had some idea who I was talking about. My mistake. Trekphiler 09:28, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- Please point me to what you are talking about so I don't have to dig to figure out who you are and why you are unhappy. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 13:23, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
Batman
I'll watch for the weekend. I can always watch Batman.
Also, I have now split the Batman template similarly to how the Superman template got split.Doczilla 08:48, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- I know I probably shouldn't be accusing anyone of being a fanboy, especially someone who "can always watch Batman", but I am frustrated because no matter what I do -- many people aren't happy with the facts. I have cited the comic book, the movies, the animated series, and outside research from others -- but I am still accused of not citing anything. Batman has committed crimes, within his world, and those crimes have been observed by characters inside and outside of that world. Perhaps fans of Batmnan should recognize their bias and thus refrain from removing any criticism. And it's hardly criticism since it's simply the fact of the character. Characters in comic books are far more complex nowadays and many of them, like the Batman, have their dark criminal sides.
Vandalism
You marked St. Mark's Poetry Project for deletion because you considered that the Poetry Project lacked notability. One person's unfamiliarity with such a long well-known institution doesn't constitute lack of notability; you might have been a little diligent and googled it. After I added more information to support notability and removed your marking for deletion, you went and removed the information I added and re-marked the page for deletion claiming again the institution lacked notability. Your first action was irresponsible and your second was malicious. It's all there in the page history at St. Mark's Poetry Project. Plus, you stalked me in the first place after having a difficulty with the opinion I expressed at the talk page for East Liberty (Pittsburgh), so your sudden interest in the Poetry Project was suspicously more suddenly about me than the Poetry Project.
I don't really give a shit if you stalk me. I'll just change to a different user id and continue to contribute to the WP project. I don't care if all my contributions are credited to me or not. People like you who wish to use WP to build themselves an online persona by obsessively feathering their own caps are a good argument for the fork of WP at http://citizendium.org/ JimmyTheSaint 15:51, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- First of all, I have never marked the article for deletion. You never claimed notability: All you said was that it existed and where it was located, so there was a very good chance another administrator might have come along and speedy deleted it. Articles have to be on notable subjects, and if an article doesn't make an attempt to even claim notability, it will be deleted, particularly if it is a one-sentence article that has sat for days with no movement. I tagged the article so you would have the information available to you to at least claim notability and avoid deletion. That wasn't an attack at all; I was trying to help you or anyone else who might find the article to improve it. Did you even read the attached information? I imagine not because you assumed the tag was for deletion, despite being clearly marked otherwise. I do see now that you have mentioned it that my revert removed an attempt at claiming notability, and for that I apologize. Because of the removal of the notability tag and the quirks of the edit compare system, I did not recognize that you had made improvements to the article. It wasn't malicious; it was a mistake, and for that I apologize.
- Why did I not search for articles to support your claims? Because it wasn't an immediate need once notability was claimed, and I was trying to work my way through two days of my 600-article watchlist, which I was more interested in taking care of first. You have treated everything I have done as an attack, which has not been the case at all. I do not disagree with you in any way about the East Liberty article; I think you make rather good points, and I would really like to see the article move in the direction you suggest. It's disappointing that it's not there already. I merely moved your comments to the bottom of the talk page where they are supposed to go to improve their visibility. You claimed vandalism then, saying that moving your comments from the top of the page made them less visible, but the opposite is true. New comments go at the bottom, and editors with any sort of experience using them will look there for the most recent suggestions on the article. Likewise, I didn't stalk you. I had no intention of harassing you whatsoever, despite the baseless accusations you continue to level at me; I thought your ideas were good, and I wanted to make sure other editors saw them.
- Finally, don't be a dick. Instead of asking questions, you made accusations. Whether you change your user name or not, your beligerent behavior and refusal to follow simple instructions on Wikipedia will draw the same sort of attention from other administrators, and you will have the same problems with them. Now, please drop it and try to get along so you can go back to being a good contributor, which you otherwise are. Thanks, Chris Griswold (☎☓) 21:21, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
Save The Lectures
This is concerning your comment towards me on the Wolverine discussion page. First off, I meant no disrespect towards another editor. I simply called the person nipple instead of Chaotic nipple, like addressing someone by their last name rather than their first. So, before deciding to lecture somebody on anything, get the facts first. You might not look like a horse's ass. Odin's Beard 23:29, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Misunderstanding with the third party
Hey. Sorry about you and Jimmy the twit. It's stuff like that which makes me so disgruntled. Anyway, I know you're not like breaken up about it and it's technically not my business, but I'm sorry about how it went down. You mean well, some people just misunderstand. Still, considering all that, I'll try not to give you a reason to block me. The least I can do is stop you from doing something hypocritical. ;) Later. Ace Class Shadow
I have been researching Ace Class Shadow's edits and comments for some time now, and I can't believe he has not been blocked! Forget the fact that he completely jumped my butt a few weeks ago in the Spider Man 3 discussion, but he seems to take great joy in tearing down other users to the point of downright meanness. I'm asking a very serious question here, and this may be hard to believe, but I don't know the guy or have an alterior motive. But my question is this: when will it stop? I mean, take a look at his posts and the angry responses from other users concerning Ace's comments. He totally takes the joy out of contributing to this wonderful encyclopedia. I speak for a lot of people when I say "enough is enough" Reynoldsrapture 02:01, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
- I'm confused by your silence on this matter. If you don't agree with me, that's fine. But I would at least appreciate a reply to my comments. I'm not hell bent on retribution here, I simply thought I would voice my concerns to someone who has delt with Ace before, especially an administrator. Reynoldsrapture 01:27, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry, I somehow missed this comment; my attention to Wikipedia has been spotty this past week. I don't understand myself how this has continued. I am trying to watch him now, so that when he slips up and lays into someone this time, he will be blocked for a while. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 02:08, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

- Thats all I ask. His high and mighty attitude drives away those who truly care about this website, but may not have the experience he has. Having a high IQ isn't licence to be a bully. Thanks for the reply, and I'll keep an eye on your talk page to see if anything else comes of this. Reynoldsrapture 03:05, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Batman/Superman template widths
Because you are of the people who have edited these templates, I'd like to request your input at Template_talk:Batman#Template_width so those of us who have been working on these templates can agree on how to standardize them. Doczilla 21:56, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
Before labelling him as a sockpuppet, consider this: I decided he could do with a fresh start. User:JzG agreed (infact, I agree with JzG). The new username has so far, as far as I am aware, not evaded any block or ban, or violated any of the policies on Wikipedia, including those laid out by WP:SOCK. Please give this user a second chance. --Lord Deskana (talk) 23:15, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
WikiProject Comics...
Not a serious matter, but I personally think that if you don't really have anything to say about the project itself, then it shouldn't be said. I'm talking about this. It was brought to my attention by another user, so I just wanted to let you know. Thanks. By the way, how's the first two weeks of adminship been? Nishkid64 00:33, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Let's remember that community building is almost as much a part of Wikipedia as encyclopedia building. I don't think there's any need to make more of this than it was. Steve block Talk 01:12, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I did say something about the project. The entire comment was about the project, framed in the fact that it was my 15,000th post. Your comment to me here was in no way constructive; it only comes across as needlessly negative after I just said something very positive about the project. Please think about how necessary it was to say this to me. As for being an administrator, I have been taking it easy, getting to know the new tools and responsibilities. I have blocked several users so far, but only after consulting the relevent policy. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 01:15, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Your signature
Just a small heads up. I couldn't help but notice that the part of your signature that is supposed to point to your contributions doesn't work correctly. You need to change User contributions:ChrisGriswold to Special:Contributions/ChrisGriswold. Just thought I'd help out. -Platypus Man | Talk 05:30, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- OK. Looking, you're an administrator and you know how to do the link. Looking at my post, it almost sounds rude, but I thought I would help. I apologize if it sounds rude, patronizing, or anything like that. -Platypus Man | Talk 05:41, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

I noticed that you edited someone else's comment for clarity, spelling or grammar. As a rule, refrain from editing others' comments without their permission. Though it may appear helpful to correct typing errors, grammar, etc., please do not go out of your way to bring talk pages to publishing standards, since it is not terribly productive and will tend to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. For more details, see Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines. Thanks, The Kinslayer 09:53, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Comicsproj
Hey Chris, I'm currently updating the comicsproj template along the lines of a few others. At the minute in a sandbox of mine I'm tinkering and I've added some extra fields:
- attention: if set to yes this will put it in Category:Comics needing cleanup
- fiction: if set to yes this will put it in Category:Wikipedia comics articles needing their fiction made clear
- infobox: if set to yes this will put it in Category:Comics articles needing info boxes
I'll also add some categories to cover the collaboration nomination procedure and we should think about setting up a project peer review. Can you think of anything else that we need to tag that could be better handled through the comicsproj template than a banner on the front page? Steve block Talk 09:56, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- I saw you were doing this, and I am very glad. I'm really not too sure what else to add to the tag; maybe an RfC/dispute alert? --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 18:27, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- That's not a bad idea. So far the variables I've set up are at Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/Project banner, although they aren't live yet as I'm having problems with the peer review tag which I'm just sorting. What, a dispute="yes" tag that sorts articles to Category:WikiProject Comics articles with disputes or rfc="yes" that sorts articles to Category:WikiProject Comics articles requesting comment? Which one sounds better? Steve block Talk 18:31, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- Requesting comment is better; it covers more. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 18:32, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
- It's all done and should all work, it's at {{Comicsproj}}, same as before. Have to update a few articles but I'll take care of that later. Enjoy the goodies! Steve block Talk 20:00, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
