A tag has been placed on User:Chris Zoukis, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Contested deletion[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because in reviewing the Wikipedia posting guidelines, it is suggested that users provide some background information about themselves concerning the topics they write about. I'm not trying to promote, just show my area of topical expertise. I'm a federal prison expert and have authored several books on the topic. If there is an objection to having a link in the about the user section, just ask and I'll remove it.Chris Zoukis (talk) 07:12, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Considering every single thing you've added has been linking to your own website, that's hard to believe. You misread the user page guidelines. See how you do with the important ones: WP:5P, esp. WP:NOT. John from Idegon (talk) 07:17, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

March 2020[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Federal Correctional Complex, Petersburg, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. John from Idegon (talk) 07:53, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I was just blocked and believe this is improper. I made two rounds of edits to a page concerning Federal Correctional Institution Petersburg Medium. The first round updated old links pointing to the old prison profiles. I'm not sure who added those links, but all I did was update the URL to the current, accurate profiles.

I then made a second round of edits to the page concerning notable inmates and their release dates. Additionally, I updated the population numbers for the facility. The same user reverted these edits, stating that I didn't include a source. In fact, I didn't include a source, because the Bureau of Prisons' website does not permit pinpoint citations when using the Inmate Locator or Population Reports features.

Both sets of edits that I made were to update either outdated information or sources pointing to old and outdated information from 2013. For these reasons, I believe this block should be lifted.

Additionally, the process of these revisions does question the credibility of Wikipedia's editorial oversight system. I was literally blocked following edits made to a page to bring the page up-to-date. If Wikipedia wants to publish outdated and inaccurate information, then so be it. But as a new Wikipedia contributor, I find this process surprisingly adversarial. Having written for several news agencies over the past decade, this type of conduct would not be permitted. But for the sake of accuracy and integrity, and outside and apart from this appeal, I ask that you review the edits I made. The information can be retrieved from https://www.bop.gov/inmateloc/ and https://www.bop.gov/about/statistics/population_statistics.jsp. Neither provide for pinpoint citations.Chris Zoukis (talk) 08:21, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You have failed to address the fact that almost all of your edits incorporate links to your own website or to sites that sell your books. You are blocked because you seem to be here primarily to promote your own business interests on Wikipedia, not simply to update information. Yunshui  08:29, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Deletion request[edit]

(Non-administrator comment) Hi Chris Zoukis. User talk pages are not eligible for speedy deletion per criterion U1. If you've got no desire to edit on Wikipedia any longer and don't wish to request to try and get your account unblocked (please see WP:UNBLOCK for some more information on that), you can simply abandon page and not edit it again. You may remove some comments from this page if you like as explained in WP:BLANKING, but you cannot remove declined unblock requests for an active block. So, you can remove everything except what contained in #March 2020 (you can remove the very first warning from that section, but you should leave the block notification and the declined unbock request).

FWIW, you got block, but just because you're block is indefinite that doesn't mean forever. You can always file another unblock request if you like, but you might want to wait a bit before you do so. If after some time has passed, you're able to convince an administrator that you understand why you were blocked and that you will do your best to avoid repeating the same mistake, then your account may be restored to good standing. Whether you want to do that is up to you, but if an administrator starts to feel that you're being disruptive, even on this talk page, then they may even take away your ability to edit it. A user page and a user talk page are not really by owned an individual user so you're going to need to use them in accordance with relevant Wikipedia policies and guidelines.

While you're considering what to do from here on, you may want to look at WP:NOT (particulary WP:NOTPROMOTION), WP:SELFCITE, and WP:ELNO since those pages seem to be partly related to the reaosn you were blocked. -- Marchjuly (talk) 09:13, 5 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
