If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Coos Bay Police Department (Oregon) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. - MrX 12:39, 26 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Vehicle registration plates of Oregon

[edit]

I can't help but notice that you have edited Vehicle registration plates of Oregon more than 60 times in the last 28 hours.

With the very greatest of respect... there is no need to be that enthusiastic.

Also, each time you make an edit, you should give a reason for that edit in the edit summary. Not doing so can be unhelpful for other editors.

Your pictures

[edit]

First of all, thanks for taking my advice on board.

Second - I see that someone has disagreed with your pictures of Oregon license plates for some reason, and has requested that they be deleted.

The rules regarding the uploading of pictures are not entirely clear to me - the main reason why I haven't uploaded any in the six years that I have been editing Wikipedia - but I honestly don't see any problems with yours.

After all, they are your pictures, and you uploaded them yourself. And I have to admit, they do enhance the tables in Vehicle registration plates of Oregon significantly - they complement the corresponding descriptions, and they add color.

I have argued against their deletion on the corresponding nomination page on Commons. And if it's alright with you, I am going to restore them to the aforementioned tables, pending a resolution to this issue.

So my argument was in vain, and your pictures have indeed been deleted.
I have to admit, that sucks. I'm sure there are other users who have uploaded their own pictures of license plates from a particular US state, and added them to the corresponding Wikipedia article - and these pictures have been allowed to stand, instead of being deleted.
But please don't let this incident put you off editing Wikipedia in the future. I myself have got on the wrong side of fellow editors plenty of times in the past (though never intentionally), and I've been unhappy each time - yet I'm still editing Wikipedia almost every day.
Also, your contributions to Vehicle registration plates of Oregon have been very good.
