No biting newbies!
[edit]Please be careful not to inadvertently bite newcomers when you tag articles for deletion. The author of the article you tagged (David A. Steinberg) was a new user and did not have time to fully develop the article. You should encourage newcomers to contribute and become productive editors, so please welcome them warmly. Thank you. - crz crztalk 20:35, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
Other wikis
[edit]Hi there! I tried to access the two wikis you told me about. Encyclopedia Dramatica was blocked by my internet filter which prevents access to porn. I could not find Opencycle, but there are hundreds, if not thousands, of projects operating on the same software (Mediawiki 6.0, I think) as wikipedia, which is publicly available under a free license. And yes, there are also numerous sites "forks" and "mirrors"; forks copy Wikipedia content, then edit it to suit themselves (Wikinfo is the most famous successful of these), while mirrors just copy the content and display it, read-only. What you found could be one of those. David Cannon 12:18, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
- Opencycle is at [1]. While Opencycle uses MediaWiki and has much of the same ends as Wikipedia (it, too, is a wiki-based open-content encyclopedia), it is by no means a "copy" of Wikipedia--Opencycle is an entirely separate project. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.135.29.11 (talk) 00:05, 12 February 2007 (UTC).
No biting newbies!
[edit]Please be careful not to inadvertently bite newcomers when you tag articles for speedy deletion. The author of the article you incorrectly tagged (Lorenza Mazzetti) was a new user and did not have time to fully develop the article. You should encourage newcomers to contribute and become productive editors, so please welcome them warmly. Thank you. - crz crztalk 18:12, 5 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for Keeping an Eye on My Talk Page!

Biting newbies
[edit]This was not vandalism – [2]. While leaving edit-summaries like these – [3], you might be scaring off potential users of Wikipedia; instead try reasoning with the user. Please don't do it again. Regards, — Nearly Headless Nick 11:17, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Your note on User talk:VAeagle
[edit]I noticed the note you left for this user about his article, Rob petrucelli. Have you seen the list of user talk templates at WP:UTM? Many of these messages are very handy for letting people know why their articles may be deleted. They have been developed to provide useful, specific explanations for the most common cases. Cheers, FreplySpang 19:13, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Intro
[edit]It's better to keep an intro simple and save details for later in the article, which is what I was trying to do. But it really isn't that important, I suppose. Everyking 05:15, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Ministers
[edit]Sure, I'll research those two ministers and write their bios. BTW, I want to thank you for the articles you've written. I feel a lot less lonely in this department now! David Cannon 01:13, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Adoption
[edit]Just FYI, I think I do need a lot of help because I don't know how to create articles or do citations, a lot of my edits are minor, etc. --Umalee 02:26, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Hugh Hefner article
[edit]YOU are accusing ME of vandalizing a page! How dare you? Are you aware of how many obvious mistakes were in that article? SOMEBODY vandalized it long before I got there.. The list of mistakes in the article were (are?) endless....eg "Playgirl" instead of Playboy, 1,200,000 instead of 5,200,000, 1959 instead of 1989, 1959 instead of 1979,"Playboy's Penthouse" instead of Playboy After Dark,"Playboy Rock Festival" instead of Playboy Jazz Festival.. AND MANY MORE. Be happy that I corrected SOME mistakes. (or do you prefer that the article remain as cancer-riddled with errors as it probably still is. In which case I would question whose side are you really on...?) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Micky52 (talk • contribs) 04:10, 12 January 2007 (UTC).

Updating (Nazhat Shameem, Shaista Shameem, etc)
[edit]Hi there! Sure thing, I'll have a look at your Shaista Shameem and Fiji Human Rights Commission articles. I'll have a quick look now, but will probably leave any major additions till tomorrow, as it's now 2.10 a.m. and I can hardly keep my eyes open. But I promise you I won't forget!
BTW, I'm so glad you are here! For three years, almost all Fiji-related articles were created by me and there were times when I felt lonely. Having you on board makes it feel so much more like a team effort. I look forward to seeing a lot more of your good work! David Cannon 13:12, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
Help
[edit]Did you mean you needed help, or that I could contact you if I needed help?--Umalee 02:31, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- I dont need help and I asked if you needed Help becoz you havent been Editing 4r a long time..Ok byeee..Cometstyles talk
No, I don't. I'm really just starting to figure wikipedia out. The only problem I have is that I'm not being very bold. --Umalee 05:01, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
- If you would like to Update your Userpage and make it look something like mine ..I would be more then happy to help...--Cometstyles 05:41, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Actually, is there any way to 'hide' my userboxes unless someone actually wants to see them? --Umalee 05:43, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Re:Subpage
[edit]I did. I just wanted to create something by myself. Sorry for not explaining sooner. --Umalee 02:39, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Vidya Balan
[edit]i think your Hindi spelling of Vidya is wrong.if U spell her name its pronounced as "Vidha".Pliz Try 2 fix it ..OK.. --Cometstyles 15:13, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- No Actually it is correct. I guess you are confusing विद्या with विधा, or more specifically द्य (dya) with ध (dha). It is an uncommon letter in hindi. another example is Dhristadyumna hindi: धृष्टद्युम्न. Probably you got confused because of small hindi font. try enlarging them and you will notice the difference. WikiProject Fiji Rugby
[edit]Hey, you may want to consider making this a "work group" within WP:RU instead of a new wiki-project. You may find it difficult to attract enough people to WikiProject Fiji Rugby, but if you create a work-group within WP:RU you may find it easier to co-ordinate Fiji Rugby tasks. I would recommend looking at Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography; they have several work groups, you can copy their format. Maybe also mention creating a work group at the WP:RU talk page. - Shudda talk 06:47, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- You should create this workgroup. - Shudda talk 05:26, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- I may have time tomorrow. - Shudda talk 05:30, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Nasoni Roko, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Fang Aili talk 04:07, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- Actually CometStyles, I can understand why that page was put up for deletion. It was not written properly, and made it hard for people to know exactly who he is. You may want to refrain from taking text straight from teivovo.com like you did there though. It is almost certainly considered plagiarism, it's much better to summarise the article in your own words. - Shudda talk 05:18, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Nasoni Roko (again)
[edit]This article I created is of notability and I hope that you try 2 find out about the Articles you try 2 delete by asking the person who created it rather then sending it 2 Articles for Deletion without prior notice and Please dont bite the newbies..Ciao..ø~Cometstyles~ø(talk)
- Actually, I didn't AfD it, I added the prod tag, as noted above. And it looks fine now; thank you for improving it. --Fang Aili talk 14:31, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Reviewing
[edit]Sure! I'm happy to review your work.. Are there any particular articles you want me to review, or do you want me just to evaluate your work in general? I'll get around to it later today or tomorrow at the latest:-) David Cannon 20:55, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Fiji Rugby work group
[edit]I have created the work group. You can access by this shortcut WP:RUFR. The work group will not succeed unless you attract some members to the group though. I did all this work so can you do that for me? I recommend you post information at the WP:RU talk page, and put it up in the news section on the project's page as well. You may want to ask people at WikiProject Fiji also. The last thing I'd try is to ask anyone that has edited major Fijian rugby articles, such as Rugby union in Fiji (which is the best RU related Fiji article out there at the moment). If you manage to get five members I'll join the group as the sixth. Good luck! - Shudda talk 03:19, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
A Class standards
[edit]I don't know if it's worth doing it at the moment. 'A Class' basically means very close to FA standard, I don't know if any of our GA articles are there yet. Most other projects have some sort of peer review system to determine A class articles. I don't think WK:RU is active enough to do that though. I think we should just leave it for now. - Shudda talk 23:24, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Assessment standards
[edit]It seems many of your assessments do not conform to the assessment standards laid out by WP:RU. You can view them here. Please go through the assessment log and change the articles from the wrong class (there are far too many top class, it's crazy). If we have 80%of the articles top class then how are we supposed to prioritise the articles we edit? Please go through and check your assessments to the standards set out by WP:RU. - Shudda talk 23:47, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Crusaders peer review
[edit]Hi, I've requested a peer review for Crusaders. Could everyone please take a look and help out? I'm trying to get the article up to Featured Article standard, and would like any feedback I can get. You can add any comments here. Thanks a lot! - Shudda talk 03:33, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Fiji Rugby
[edit]Thanks for the invitation. I've put my name in the participants list. Not sure how much I'd be able to contribute to Fiji Rugby, but I'll put stuff in where I can. JCIACHNE 02:07, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
