Hello Csparr. Please see a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard#External links to the Encyclopedia Of Life. You may add your own comment there if you wish. EdJohnston (talk) 23:54, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I think you may run into a problem posting external links to Encyclopedia of Life per WP:LINKSTOAVOID. However, you might be able to get a link to the Encyclopedia of Life articles in the taxobox templates. For example, the external link you posted in the Gastropoda article was removed.[1] That article also uses Template:Automatic taxobox and you could try requesting that template include a parameter for EOL. On the other hand, a number of articles already include external links to EOL. See this. -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 06:56, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Uzma, this is really helpful. We actually use the Wikipedia taxobox extensively and I am very much in favor of it being as useful as possible. We'll look into it. Csparr (talk) 19:32, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

In the future, please add attribution when copying from public domain sources: simply add the template {{PD-notice}} after your citation. I have done so for the above article. Please do this in the future so that our readers will be aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself, and that it's okay to copy verbatim.
