Alan Reid & Craig Reid - Players for Queen of the South FC

http://www.qosfc.com/stats-player

Alan Reid has played 6 starts + 1 sub appearance in the league for Queens Craig Reid has played 5 starts in the league for Queens

I have changed these back to show this as per the link on the official Queens website. Rusty 1111

Stephen Simmons disciplinary record

I've also edited Stephen Simmons' disciplinary record. The team line-up on the Queens official website has him booked in the game v. Dundee on Saturday 1 October 2011, although the BBC match report has not. The match report write-up on the Queens official has only 2 Queens players booked, Higgins & McKenna (same as BBC match report), so I'm not sure if he was actually booked or not.

The players stats page has him booked as well. I've reflected this booking in the updates. May need some clarification.

Season Pages

Yeah no problem was planning on looking at them when I got home from work. Didn't have time at the weekend spent all my time getting the Livingston main page from the total unreferenced mess it was to how it looks now took ages. Edinburgh Wanderer 13:50, 3 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Former Hearts Players

Nah transfermarkt although tends to be correct wouldn't to my mind be considered a reliable source. Jamie McCormack i cant find anything however MURRAY CHRISTIE his profile at Cowdenbeath states he signed from Hearts in July 2011 its primary so not the best but its a source all the same. [1]. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:04, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They seem quite bad to be honest don't even mention him in their youth section. I even read through a few match reports in the hope there would be a wee snippet but couldn't see anything. Comes to something when Cowdenbeath are better than Wigan at something. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:31, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Alexander "Jimmy" Gray (footballer)

I have consulted with George Crosbie who has written 5 private publications on Queens early years in which he came up with some fantastic information courtesy of the Ewart Library in Dumfries. Seemingly "Jimmy" Gray and Alex Gray are the same player. Previously with Kilmarnock (74 appearances; 32 goals) he joined Queen of the South from Bristol City (not Rovers) in the the summer of 1927 and scored 38 goals in 37 appearances for Queens (37 league goals plus one other). He then joined Greenock Morton for a season in 1928-29 but returned to Palmerston for 6 games and scored 3 goals. In all he made 43 appearances, scoring 41 goals. Confirmed by Bristol City and Kilmarnock, his first name is Alexander, born in Glasgow 1899. I hope this is enough information to start an article for him? (RJC 14:13, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
For your continuing hard work and determination in making List of Scottish football transfers 2011–12 the most accurate list so far. Keep it up. Edinburgh Wanderer 18:41, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Scottish Cup

Your a star. Thats been driving me up the wall. The BBC Have reports on all the matches but the links arent working. Ive mailed them three times but they just mail be back with another link which does not work. Thank you Edinburgh Wanderer 18:59, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I should actually know that as i have the app on my iphone but never actually used it. Edinburgh Wanderer 19:02, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dean Cummings

I hadn't noticed he had made his debut on the stats or i would have created one. To be honest given some recent experience with their website i would think its more likely they have made an error. All the others dont even list Deuchar as a sub. I have fired an email of to their web team and hopefully they will reply. Ill let you know maybe just create in userspace until we hear back but would be surprised if all those sources are wrong. Edinburgh Wanderer 23:29, 26 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just got a reply see below:

Thank you for your query.

I can confirm that it was definitely Kenny Deuchar who replaced Marc McNulty in our match at Ayr. Kenny had our No 12 shirt on and is listed in the official team sheet for the match.

I suspect that there has been an error made by someone which has possibly filtered through to other sources. For matches at our level I understand that the BBC and SFL websites both take a feed from the Press Association so their reporter could be the culprit!

Hope this clears things up for you.

Quite surprised to be honest. Edinburgh Wanderer 17:55, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problem rather shocked at that to be honest. Ill send an email to soccerway to get theirs changed they normally reply promptly. Ill do the same with the SFL. Wont bother with soccerbase they are totally useless they never reply nor are the accurate at sfl level. Edinburgh Wanderer 18:10, 27 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Queen of the South's Current Season 2011-12

I really like the additional information that you have added to the page this week. Keep up the good work. I will be happy to assist you in keeping everything up-to-date each weekend. (RJC 15:21, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

Robbie Neilson

I am trying to find out if Robbie Neilson has a club for this season 2011-12? Could you check this out for me please? He was released by Leicester City at the end of last season, having spent the latter part of last season on loan at Brentford. (RJC 13:13, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Capitalisation

Im going to create John Gibson for Dundee. But there is already a John Gibson (footballer) so need to create John Gibson (scottish footballer). Should the S be capitalised. changed my mind twice. Edinburgh Wanderer 22:41, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks that was my original thought. Edinburgh Wanderer 22:48, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

According to Sky and the BBC Dean Cummings made his debut today. Livingston haven't added their match report yet. Edinburgh Wanderer 18:21, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As long as you are sure ill do it later up to you. Edinburgh Wanderer 18:36, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thats it created if there is anything you want to add. Edinburgh Wanderer 00:26, 13 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Transfers

Thanks for that. I'm really not great on the transfers. I've got the starting draft for the articles I created on my mac saved so will be easy to start then next year. Will start to create them as soon as this season finishes. Thanks again. Edinburgh Wanderer 11:19, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hearts players

God its no wonder Hearts are in trouble you only have to look at all the loans to see we have to many players. Read in the paper that including under 19's hearts have over 60 players. Edinburgh Wanderer 19:02, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oh and thanks for fixing the table on Jason Holt. Edinburgh Wanderer 19:02, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Glad there not that bad. A clearout in January would be no bad thing.Edinburgh Wanderer 21:50, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Transfer List

Have you thought about the suggestion of splitting in January and removing the undisplayed templates. Edinburgh Wanderer 21:50, 21 November 2011 (UTC)Edinburgh Wanderer 19:12, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good was an article about spending in one of the papers recently but for the life of me can't remember which one but ill have a look. If its got to be split then i think January would be best. Edinburgh Wanderer 19:12, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Transfers

Sorry forgot to reply to be honest wouldn't have known how to do a pie chart on wiki let alone the nine segments which does seem stupid. What it it your trying to show in it again. Edinburgh Wanderer 18:02, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look at the documentation and it dosent mention that as a limitation i really don't have a clue. You could ask User:PleaseStand who created it though. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:26, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
it dosent happen to me but i can only assume its because I've got autopatroled on my account. Its probably something new to do with Wikipedia:New pages patrol.Edinburgh Wanderer 21:28, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry not been around. I agree it needed split but to be honest i worry were going to end up having the same problem again with the second article becoming too large by splitting it now. Also are you still working on it the dates appear to be wrong. February 2011 wasn't this transfer window. Edinburgh Wanderer 17:43, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you've done now. I think we should leave the old articles alone. And it should be from the end of the last season so may 2011 i would of said until January but if we need to split then september to may again. I may be on my own but think its confusing like that. If I've missed the point let me know. Edinburgh Wanderer 17:49, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't an mos for this as far as I'm aware. Given we are breaking with what we have done in all the others we don't have to follow the english ones. Summer should be may to end of year or september if we have to and winter should be until may thats my opinion. We could of had list of transfers season 2011-12 summer and winter. Anyway not getting at you just think its not quite correct. Anyway not be around much for a few days. Edinburgh Wanderer 18:43, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If we can't have may to January which it appears we can't then i would split it like that. By doing it like that it has some from this season and some from last and is less consistent i also feel we would be risking going down the line both lists being too long. Edinburgh Wanderer 19:21, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ive never found one nor is there consistency over different countries lists i just feel we would be better with List of Scottish football transfer winter 2011–12 and List of Scottish football transfer summer 2011–12 maybe with season at the end. Edinburgh Wanderer 19:44, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest im too tired to think straight been up far too long with all the strikes today. We need titles that indicate that its the 2011-12 season split into sections. List of Scottish football transfers summer 2011‎ doesn't give that it covers far too wide a scope. The lead needs to indicate the period covered you and i know what the period the window covers but we shouldn't assume everyone does. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:16, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Plus we already have List of Scottish football transfers 2010–11 which covers part of that page. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:20, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Given we aren't any further forward lets take it back to the task force page and ask for comment from members we need a solution and I'm happy to go with consensus. Either way we need to make it clearer. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:27, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not so sure about that. To me the problems are: 1 we have overlapping content 2 the titles don't accurately reflect the aim of the article. 3 we need to explain to everyone in the lead what the article is for and i don't feel that is the case. I don't think there is any point in us debating it further here. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:36, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well we can try the lead change but i feel the title does need addressed. To be honest part of the reason I'm being so fussy is that you had done such a good job with it and its far better than i imagined it would be but i want the split to be totally up to standard. I Just feel we are losing something by splitting it in the way we have with the title and the lead. We don't have a choice with the split it has to be done but i feel its not the best way. What we could do is go with this just now unless anyone has better suggestions and at the end of the season review it for how we will proceed with future seasons. Name this and the next accordingly. The title isn't accurate but i really don't feel we can get much further here. My plan was at the end of the season to start a discussion on whether we have been successful with the task force and review what we can do better next year. Maybe we can look at it then unless its brought up once more before then.Edinburgh Wanderer 20:59, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Jammy I would like to tell you, I'm not in an edit war. If anything if you look at the Gary Speed article it is Adam who is owning the article, by taking down my valid, factual, reliable, non biased, needed input on reflex. If you look if I have edited over three times then that is down to the fact I have edited other non contested parts of the article or I minor edited. If anything you can tell by adams reflex to come to you lot who is owning the article. My regards Jarra78 (talk) 21:30, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jammy, Integrity of the article???

Stand back take a deep breath count to 3.

My input was valid reliable, factual, truthful, authoritive, non biased and needed. Please read what I put in on the 2011-11-29.

Regarding integrity, I would have left you in peace mate if you hadn’t fallaciously inferred I lacked integrity. I take offense at how you throw a label at me that says my edits lacked integrity. Please look at Adams4267 reverted edits, Adam tried to claim I had not put in quotes for what I was stating. He lied bare faced. Please look at all my edits from the 29th of November 2011. They all have quotes in. It is clear as anything all my edits were factual and had integrity and strengthened the article.(IMO you can have your own opinion about adam4267 or me, from the 29/11/2011, but please do not throw a label that infers I lack integrity mate heh, heh. :) and we’ll leave it at that.)

My integrity on that article on the 2011-11-29 cannot be questioned.

By the way regarding the Newcastle United section edit that Adam4267 kept reverting, unfairly:

All I did using an interview with Gary Speed, from an authoritive football publication called 442 (fourfourtwo.com) by the author Andy Mitten, was basically put in was a premise or two which was matched by what Gary said himself.

I put in, I’m paraphrasing here (check the article yourself if you want to),

“1:.Gary Speed claimed the time he was at Newcastle was the happiest years of his career”,

“2. And when he left it was his biggest heartbreak he had in football”.

These two premises are backed up by what was said in the Question and Answer interview involving Andy Mitten (the interviewer) by Gary Speed (the interviewee). Because the premise of 1 and 2 were stating what was exactly said in the interview there was no spin (no bias) and as such this was edited in a neutral stand point.

BTW read the interview from the citation put in, 1. Gary Speed actually states his years at Newcastle were amongst his happiest, and it matched exactly what I put in. 2. Gary Speed also states his biggest heartbreaks in football were leaving Newcastle and losing to Romania for Wales in 1993, matching exactly what I put in.

Everything I put in was backed up. Everything I put in his stated exactly to what was said between Andy Mitten and Gary Speed.

Answer what was wrong with stating what Gary Speed said in an interview with 442? Answer were I lacked integrity? Jarra78 (talk) 09:28, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Andy Geggan

Both to gain a full picture. I could only find one mistake in the whole thing should have been two scottish cup appearances in 2009/10 not league cup. Edinburgh Wanderer 15:11, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if it was just the Ayr stats if it is they hadn't been updated. If its the Dumbarton stats then the above was the only mistake i could see. Edinburgh Wanderer 15:24, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The ones prior to 2009 may be wrong but soccerway only goes back that far so cannot cross reference. Edinburgh Wanderer 15:34, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

SFL Mistakes

Thanks for fixing that was waiting to see what the partick report said but forgot about it. Jake Dargo will not be happy. [2] Edinburgh Wanderer 19:12, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The press association need to get their act together. I may take you up on the Airdrie United page next week looks a challenge.Edinburgh Wanderer 21:45, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It seems to be a bigger issue than we first thought. Don't know what to suggest though we could use the club reports but i would rather we used a external source and if we do sometimes they take ages to appear and its a nightmare updating them as it is. Also i have started work on airdrie by making a seasons page and about to do a manager page to try and remove some of the useless trivia. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:09, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think any are better than others. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:36, 24 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
SFL still showing James Doyle playing for Alloa [3]. Sky have jamie doyle with all the stats we have for michael doyle. Really annoying. Edinburgh Wanderer 18:26, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ive just found a profile on soccerway for a Jamie Doyle see [4]. Only shows one stat with no match link think ill mail the SFL to highlight the problem.Edinburgh Wanderer 19:19, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to send them an email listing all the issues they are getting wrong and see if i get a reply. It's causing two many problems now. Probably won't get a reply but worth a go. Least it will show them they are wrong Edinburgh Wanderer 20:02, 26 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Another problem. Take a look at these sources for Annan's Match on Saturday Annan Report, Stirling Report, SFL. They all contradict each other. One says there was no subs the other says there was one and the third says there was three. Also Danny Mitchell is listed on the SFL one but i thought he played for stranraer. But the other mitchell who plays for them is alex mitchell but he's a goalie and another was already playing. He's also listed as a sub on that one but summersgill wasn't substituted.Edinburgh Wanderer 13:33, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also having a problem with montrose as its listing as Lloyd young playing for them but he's an east fife player waiting until they release their own reports to clarify that. Edinburgh Wanderer 13:33, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much i thought that might be the case with Lloyd Young but was waiting for a report from montrose to confirm they hadn't done the same thing that the had done with Gary Harkins before. Thanks for the Danny Mitchell thing although i still think somethings not correct. Alex Mitchell is a goalie and came on as a sub but Summersgill the other goalkeeper wasnt taken off. The Guardian shows the same as the SFL. Edinburgh Wanderer 15:16, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think i should go with Alex Mitchell coming on and just double ref it. Edinburgh Wanderer 15:42, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I will update it like the match reports and send a mail. The SFL have never replied but ill try it again with them. Livingston replied no problem same with soccerway. Worth a try though. 16:09, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Edinburgh Wanderer
Sorry what am i to ask about Kevin Neilson. Edinburgh Wanderer 16:17, 4 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I was directed to Annan's new website which confirms the SFL got it wrong again. Neither K neilson or A mitchell were subs in this game. see [5]. Edinburgh Wanderer 19:51, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Its certainly becoming a joke at the end of the day we can only be as accurate as the sources we have. The press acociation are the biggest problem because thats where they get the information from but the SFL need to sort it they have far more into than we have access to yet they fail to spot the mistakes we are spotting. Every week if a mistake is spotted I'm going to mail them until they get the hint and reply. It's a hard enough task to update them as it is.Edinburgh Wanderer 21:49, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Birthplaces

Hello. You're right that WP:MOSBIO#Opening paragraph says that a person's birthplace doesn't need to go in the lead section. But it also says "Birth and death places should be mentioned in the body if known". So to comply with WP:MOSBIO, when you remove the birthplace from the opening bracket, please would you replace it somewhere appropriate in the body of the article if it isn't already in there. thanks, Struway2 (talk) 08:58, 8 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Steve Kean

Hi, I advise we try and keep the discussion in one place - Talk:Steve Kean is the best place ideally. Cheers, GiantSnowman 21:08, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Doyle

  • Got a reply from Alloa re James/Michael Doyle.

Thank you for your e-mail, the players name is, JAMES MICHAEL DOYLE, The player prefers using his middle name and is known as Michael at the club, but on team sheets and officials documents we have to use the name on his birth certificate which is James Doyle. that is why the BBC & SFL refer to him as James Doyle as we have to register him under the name on his birth certificate.

I Have updated the name on the season article and added a note. Edinburgh Wanderer 17:38, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah i noticed would have to have been done at some point so may as well have been now. Yeah we certainly could, the only thing would be what would the title be. Edinburgh Wanderer 18:23, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good do you want to create it or shall i. First well need to go through his stats and make sure there are no further mistakes. Edinburgh Wanderer 20:32, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. Do you want to do it or shall i. Edinburgh Wanderer 21:19, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ive started working on it but different sites have different dates of birth so i have mailed alloa to ask them to confirm and will finish tomorrow. Edinburgh Wanderer 22:32, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
created it Michael Doyle (Scottish footballer). Its pretty poor though. I've no idea where he was born. Or the dates of the time he spent at Kilmarnock. Edinburgh Wanderer 19:55, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

War time

Football did occur during these years with supplementary leagues. There were a few of them. I think this will of been the Southern Football League (Scotland) Division B. Which Dundee won in that year.Edinburgh Wanderer 01:35, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

See here [6]. The season before that they competed in the North Eastern Football League (Scotland). There was also a cup cometition the supplementary cup which dundee competed in see here. [7]Edinburgh Wanderer 01:41, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you have the information then i would include it. The hearts one has it but to be honest thats because London hearts is the most substantial resource for a club stats I've cone across. Edinburgh Wanderer 02:13, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

No problem will do when I get home tonight. Be about 6. Edinburgh Wanderer 11:49, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done File:1893 Dundee team.jpg . thanks for doing the season article updates as well not been around much the last few days.Edinburgh Wanderer 17:02, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Airdrie

If your ever bored and fancy a challenge you could give me a hand creating the season articles for Airdrie especially the early ones. Need to get them created so i can verify and move the stats sections from the main page. Edinburgh Wanderer 21:15, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problem wish i had never started it becoming far to repetitive. Five down Five to go. Edinburgh Wanderer 21:34, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
On the Dundee front have you thought about doing a List of Dundee F.C. seasons. It's a good starting point. Edinburgh Wanderer 21:36, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mind doing the fixtures at all its the player stats i hate. There getting left to last. Actually shouldn't be too hard to do from the football archives. Edinburgh Wanderer 23:09, 14 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I haven't got a clue to be honest. I can't remember it being abbreviated but it was a long time ago. Edinburgh Wanderer 18:52, 15 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It looks very good. Sorry been distracted with discussions the last few days hardly done anything. Edinburgh Wanderer 21:58, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Progress bar

Added it under the assessment summary table. Looks like the project is well on top of things :D Delsion23 (talk) 21:38, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Awards

I know between that, a RFC on schools and a banned user at circball I've done very little of what i planned to do the last two days. I would include the ginger boot for sure as long as we source it but the goal of the month I'm not to sure about. Edinburgh Wanderer 23:37, 20 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting had forgotten about that. I have feeling that little battle may pop back up again come May. Edinburgh Wanderer 00:08, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help

Iain Fisher only played at SFL2 level and Sean Kelly has only played a scottish cup tie against Sunnybank F.C. a junior side. Edinburgh Wanderer 15:32, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would normally say the latter because the SFA should have the registered name but if we have a date of birth and maybe a place of birth we could try and do a Births registry check. But well come to that when it happens. Edinburgh Wanderer 22:21, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Festive Wishes

Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year
Wishing you a Merry Christmas, a fabulous Hogmanay and all the best in 2012. Edinburgh Wanderer 22:16, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. Neither will i be around much i plan on doing some of the pages as well. It dosent matter if they are done after the festive period were all entitled to a wee break. Edinburgh Wanderer 22:38, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
