Col U fans section[edit]

My comment was not intended to say that Col U's history only extended to 40 years: the way the fans section was written, each of the two bands mentioned had more lines of text than a 40 year period of the club's history. I would contend that the bands are not meaningfully famous: what proportion of the population, even of Colchester, would recognise them in a photo? By what definition would you describe them as famous? If there are fans who happen to be musicians, and have made a noteworthy application of their profession to their interest, that might be worth mentioning in a section of fans' activities, but I don't think you will find a precedent for that, or a lengthy "Famous fans" section, in any Good Article or Featured Article. But a fuller history section would certainly be worthwhile. Kevin McE (talk) 21:49, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Up the U's[edit]

Hi, sorry it does seem to be notable. Perhaps the lead should be extended to include that the song has been released twice. Cheers, --Jimbo[online] 10:25, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work. I've made a couple of minor adjustments and removed the PROD tag. --Jimbo[online] 11:30, 16 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Amateur League 09-10[edit]

Thanks for updating the membership of divisions for this season. I've amended the Ards Rangers F.C. page to show that they are in the Premier Division, but I don't have time to do the rest just now. If you have time, would you mind continuing? Mooretwin (talk) 14:35, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You may wish to be aware that an Irish-nationalist editor is targeting Amateur League club pages in order to remove Northern Ireland flag icons on various grounds (players uncapped or that he claims they are eligible for ROI).Mooretwin (talk) 09:25, 7 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You may wish to be aware that a second such editor is also on board this campaign. Mooretwin (talk) 12:44, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This editor is now targeting pages to remove reference to "Northern Irish". Perhaps you could deal with this as I am voluntarily restricted to 1RR. Mooretwin (talk) 12:58, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm leaving this issue alone because 1) The Northern Ireland flag isn't official. It just seems to be used in an unofficial basis, including on the UEFA page. Clearly there is an issue here and needs to be a debate. 2) I'm not the best person to address this issue. I claim my own nationality as Northern Ireland / Republic of Ireland Irish and 3) Im trying to avoid all these tit-for-tat disagreements because they are ruining Wiki and putting me off contributing.
Fair enough, but the NI flag is "official" in football terms, and it doesn't seem right to allow politically-motivated editors to impose their will on NI football pages. Seems to have calmed down now, though. Mooretwin (talk) 13:35, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Bangor Swifts F.C. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Redirects[edit]

Hi there. What is the issue with having redirects? Mooretwin (talk) 12:42, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I just thought it was good etiquette not to have redirects. It doesnt affect the article so I dont see why there is an issue. DarthJoeyJoJo (talk) 13:15, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I thought the redirects make life easier for the writer. Much easier just to type in the link than have to pipe it. Wasn't aware of any etiquette. I don't see why there is an issue with the redirects! (Makes no odds either way as far as I can see). Was just wondering! Mooretwin (talk) 13:33, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NK Maribor (WikiProject on Football)[edit]

Hello. A while back you rated the NK Maribor article within the scope of WikiProject on Football and said you will look into the article in the future. The article was rated as C-Class. Since then a lot of things has changed and the article itself was improved a lot. Could you look into it (when you find the time) and rate it with the class it deserves in its present form (Btw: I have no idea who rates articles on Wiki:)? Thank you.Ratipok (talk) 19:57, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind:). I have found out where to put a request for article assesment.Ratipok (talk) 00:55, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ballynure Old Boys F.C., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Cloudz679 08:25, 14 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
