Request reason:
I am being continually being picked on by the admins who keep undo my work and its not fair !!! I am trying to put up a page about my hobby. Daveno14 (talk) 15:17, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You've been repeatedly warned that the page you created was inappropriate, yet you chose to continue. Blocking you was a perfectly reasonable way to stop you. Max Semenik (talk) 15:40, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- The point you have not understood is that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a social-networking site, nor a place for you to advertise for customers for your local business/hobby. That is why your articles were removed. Read Wikipedia is not about YOU. JohnCD (talk) 16:06, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
In which case you should remove all referenes to big companies like Microsfoft, Virgin records etc,etc as their presense is promoting them. THe fact is that is someone had found my page it was because they were deliberately looking for it and thus I can fulfil a service they require and Wiki was the conjuit- a win/win for every one. Daveno14 (talk) 17:22, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
JohnCD - are you going to reply to the above please or my email to you? Daveno14 (talk) 21:45, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- Your email needs a more considered response than I have time for tonight - will reply here tomorrow. JohnCD (talk) 23:07, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
Reply to your email: no, sorry, there is no way Wikipedia can help you. You want to "harness the extreme power of Wiki to build up a client base", but everybody else wants to do that, too. I spend a good two hours a day deleting advertising and blocking spammers who won't stop, and so do many other administrators. It's the downside of being open to anyone to edit.
Why not allow it? There are plenty of sites like Myspace where anybody can write about themselves and their businesses, but you wouldn't go there for an impartial view about anything. If Wikipedia is more useful than those, it is only because we are selective about subjects and have clear rules about WP:Verifiability and WP:Conflict of interest. Relax those rules, and in a year or two we would be just another Myspace.
Yes, there are articles on Microsoft and Virgin, but that is because they are notable subjects of interest to readers. It is not "Microsoft's page" - it is an article about Microsoft. The articles are not for promotional purposes, and are not written by Gates or Branson or their merry men; they include criticism. Companies or their advisers do try to manipulate Wikipedia, but they are usually detected and get embarrassing publicity, e.g. here and here.
So, sorry, but no. You are not the first to be in this position - see Wikipedia:Grief for some light-hearted advice. JohnCD (talk) 22:48, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
Fine - please could you arrange for my account to be deleted - thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.240.183.252 (talk) 23:50, 24 December 2012 (UTC)
- I'm not happy with you avoiding your lack of access to your talk page by posting as an IP, but at least it's not abusive. However, I won't extend this very far. If JohnCD wishes to address your question, which is complex, that's up to him.--Bbb23 (talk) 00:18, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
Well I have to pust via an IP as YOU stopped me posting using my ID - remember you blocked me after all !!! Mate, you cant have your cake and eat it. I am totally fed up with you bullying me on here so just do the humane thing and delete my account then you can then go pick on someone else. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.240.183.252 ([[User talk:|talk]]) 23:50, 25 December 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.240.188.5 (talk)
