Can you let me know why this has been deleted.

I think it is useful for people to know a bit about some standing for election and can't see why this was deleted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Boomonkey77 (talkcontribs) 15:27, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contribution. The article was deleted because it was primarily promotional in nature. As an encyclopedia, Wikipedia's policies do not permit articles consisiting of advocacy, promotion or advertising. In addition, articles must cite reliable, third-party sources to establish the notability and verifiability of the subject; articles on living persons are subject to even greater scrutiny. If you wish to create a page that promotes or advertises a particular political candidate, please consider using a web hosting company or a social media site. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 15:38, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Quire Colchester - trying to create a webpage for Quire Colchester using material from Quire's webpage as a start. The idea is to develop this Wikipedia section over time adding fresh material. The reason to have Quire Colchester listed in Wikipedia is to distinguish it from other choirs with the same name "Quire"Quire Colchester (talk) 18:15, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contribution. Per Wikipedia's copyright policy, content can not be copied-and-pasted, or loosely paraphrased, from another source, unless the original content is in the public domain, or Wikipedia has been formally granted permission to use the material. A general rule of thumb is that the article should be written in the editor's own words.
In the case of this article, it appears that you may have an affiliation with the subject of the article, creating a conflict of interest. Editor's with such a conflict are strongly discouraged from editing articles on the affiliated topic, due to the difficulty in maintaining a neutral point of view. If you feel that the subject warrants an article, you may post a request on the appropriate requested articles page, for a third-party editor to fulfill.
Also, please keep in mind that any article in Wikipedia is subject to the notability criteria; in the case of this article, the criteria for musical ensembles would apply. The fact that a musical group has the same name as a group described in an existing article does not automatically create notability. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 18:44, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
am Continuing my request to Mr Davnor not to delete the Quire Colchester webpage
i hope that the hyperlinks below provide evidence of other people/ external reviewers talking on the merits of Quire (Colchester)
[1] [2] [3] [4] [5] - see page 2
there is also a website of the best of frinton and walton news which talks of the Frinton Literary Festival wher we sang recently, a repeat of the Concert for Obama, which we sang in Chelmsford last year - i can't produce the weblink here because this page is not allowing me to save it.
i am a quire member but i do not have any financial gain by trying to create this Wikipedia page on Quire Colchester.
i am trying to support the work of the group in whatever little way i can.
Professor Bill Tamblyn is a retired Professor of Music who is voluntarily donating his time to running this community choir in Essex, England. He is not going to gain anything by my efforts. We are not very IT literate in Quire and we struggle with web-based technology, but that does not stop us from trying get this information through Wikipedia. The group has sung in many venues, rasing money for charity, for instance the TAFO project helping to raise funds for Tafo in Ghana
whatever is on the Quire website is already in the public domain and i do not consider it an infringement to use the material on the website to reproduce it here, but i take your point and i shall ask the responsible group memeber has the responsibility to provide the necessary permission
hope you will reconsider and withdraw the call to delete our submission for a section in Wikipedia - reason for that being to distinguish us from other groups having the same or similar names and we don't want that to cause problems Quire Colchester (talk) 19:42, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your comments. I'd like to clear up several points, which appear to be the source of some confusion:
  • It is not necessary to convince me personally; I am just one editor. Any arguments you would like to make in favor of keeping the article should be presented on the article's talk page, so that other editors may easily review the discussion. Then, according to Wikipedia procedures, an administrator will review the discussion before making a decision to delete or keep the article.
  • The conflict of interest criteria do not require a financial connection or gain; any close affiliation (such as being a member) may create a conflict, if it interferes with the editor's ability to maintain a neutral point of view.
  • Content published on any web page is, by default, not in the public domain. (Being publicly available is distinct from being in the public domain). A copyright automatically attaches to content on a web site, held by the individual or group that creates/maintains the web site unless otherwise stated. In order for Wikipedia to include such content, there would have to be a formal agreement granting Wikipedia rights to use the content, but this is usually reserved for the rare case when nothing but the original content will suffice.
  • Due to the potential conflict of interest, I suggest your proceed as follows:
    1. Allow the existing article to be deleted, per Wikipedia policy.
    2. Create a subpage of your user page (for example, User:Quire_Colchester/Quire_Colchester).
    3. In this new user-space subpage, create a draft of the article
      • Write it from scratch, using your own words - don't borrow wording from the web site
      • Include appropriate references, perhaps including some of those you listed above
    4. Post a request under the appropriate heading of WP:Requested_articles/music. In your request, include a link to the draft on your subpage, so that an editor may use it a starting point.
I hope that helps. Good luck! Davnor (talk) 20:30, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Had message from you concerning deletion of the page I just created for my wife, the performance artist Nicole Peyrafitte. The language I used is drawn in the main from her website (nicolepeyrafitte.com), thus belongs to her and she has agreed to let me use it to create her wiki page. How do i proceed? — Pjoris (talk) 21:52, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article has now been deleted, but I thought it might still be helpful to address your question. Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the formal permission of the author(s). If you are the copyright holder, you should do the following when posting such content:
  • Send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL; and,
  • Note that you have done so on the article's talk page.
However, for textual content, you are encouraged to simply rewrite the content in your own words. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with our copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 18:09, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't think A7, or G11 by proxy could apply to schools. - Stillwaterising (talk) 21:53, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the speedy delete and replaced with newpage. I will try to check back in 3 days to see if there's still issues. - Stillwaterising (talk) 22:00, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see your point; I've just been reading about the ongoing debate on how to address the notability of schools, and it appears the current consensus is that articles such as this are not usually candidates for deletion. I agree with your removal of the CSD tag, and we'll give the original author some time to work on cleaning up the article. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 22:03, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What is the difference between BigMachines and this page (Webcom, Inc.)?

[edit]

What is the difference between BigMachines and this page (Webcom, Inc.)? I take a look at Source Code of BigMachines and this is very very similar to Webcom,_Inc. BigMachines, Inc and Webcom, Inc are companies with very similar activities ( Sales Configuration, Quoting Software...) What is the reason for BigMachines is in Wikipedia and, in the same time, Webcom,_Inc. is candidate for deletion? I'm confused - my chiefs wanted me to put Webcom, Inc into Wikipedia - "If BigMachines can be in Wikipedia (BigMachines) than we can also be there" What is going on, maybe BigMachines pay for Wikipedia place? Please answer. Thanks!

Hy Davnor,

Sorry for inconvenience. I am a Romanian user and I want to translate the page in ROmanian language. It's appear that I made some mistakes. I am very new registered user, but I read Wikipedia very frenquently. Can you help me whith the article ? Where cand I make it in Romanian Wiki ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wiki-Shadow00 (talkcontribs) 19:05, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To contribute the translated article to the Romanian Wikipedia, visit the Romania Wikipeida web site, type the new article title (Percy Jackson & hotul fulgerelor (film)), into the Căutare box, click the Salt button, and then click the provided Creaţi pagina link. Or, you can just click this link, ro:Percy Jackson & hotul fulgerelor (film), then click the "crea articolul" link. Good luck! Davnor (talk) 19:46, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

about my article....

[edit]

Hi Davnor, I wrote about Shim Kwang-Ho and Shim Kwang Ho. They are same articles because it was hard to fine if i type the name which I wrote worngly. They are same but I thought it was easy to research about the person. What should I do for this problem? Please give me some advises. My email is [blanked for privacy]. I look forward to your email. Best, Aither —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aither.shim (talkcontribs) 16:41, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Aither, thank you for your contribution. The way to handle this situation is to use to a redirect. In this case, Shim Kwang-Ho is the correct spelling, so the second article (Shim Kwang Ho) should redirect to the first. I have already made this change for you: Shim Kwang Ho now redirects to Shim Kwang-Ho, so it is no longer tagged for deletion. If you have any other questions, please let me know. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 16:49, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good info on DSMS

[edit]

Thanks for writing something meaningful with reference in Data Stream Management System article. I would request you, if you have sufficient material about DSMS, keep posting about it. Its really gonnabe a replacement for DBMS. --Jayanta (Talk) 17:51, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to be of service. I'm not an expert on DSMS (most of my professional experience is programming on systems that use conventional DBMS), but I'll see what else I can pull together. Davnor (talk) 17:58, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Can I please remove your last edit on article Itisen? There is really not any other thing known of him. --Mychele Trempetich (talk) 18:04, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stub tag removed. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 18:09, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Page "Hennie Bekker"

[edit]

Dear Davnor,

I see that you've inserted the "no references" banner on the page for "Hennie Bekker". I have since then included a reference as well as sources for the information. Can the banner now be removed?

Best regards,

Ssaffer (talk) 16:11, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ssaffer, Thank you for your contribution. I have replaced the {{unreferenced}} tag with a {{BLP sources}} tag, which applies to biographies of living persons. Although the once source currently cited is helpful, the majority of the article contains no citations. If you can introduce sources that verify all the key statements in the article, with in-line citations, then the {{BLP sources}} tag could be removed. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 16:42, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My user and the "Hennie Bekker" page

[edit]

Dear Davnor,

I had previously started a page for "Hennie Bekker" using my old username "Ssaffer". Is there any way to delete that user? I had no intention of using "sockpuppetry" - I merely wanted to edit under the name "Saffer" instead of "Ssaffer" so I created that account and published and edited the page for Hennie Bekker under that name.

I hope you can help.

Regards,

Saffer (talk) 17:27, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Saffer, No worries - based on your explanation, an administrator has blocked your old account, Ssaffer. Wikipedia does not delete accounts, because that would also delete the editing history associated with that account, but the block will help avoid any future confusion. You are now free to continue editing using your current account (Saffer). Thanks! Davnor (talk) 18:12, 12 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you had sent an unimproved article to AFD some months after a non-consensus closure, I might have been convinced to agree. The merits of your points aside, they are repeats of the same arguments used by others at the last AFD less than 2 weeks ago. As stated at Wikipedia:Deletion policy, "Renominations that lack new arguments or new evidence are likely to be closed quickly". No animus here... the AFD is just too soon... Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 22:11, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your feedback, but I respectfully disagree. As stated in my previous comment, I'm inclined to think that the elapsed time is enough for a BLP, which I feel must be held to a high standard. Nevertheless, I respect the process, and if the decisions is Keep or No Consensus, then I will leave it other editors to decide if/when another nomination is suitable. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 14:25, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you in turn. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:23, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am in no way affiliated with the matter of the article and have no profit from publishing it, I just created the page about the significant event that takes place in the city where I live. It is my first page, so I am grateful to hear comments. Thank you.Afisha.picnic (talk) 15:43, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your comment. The possible conflict of interest was identified because of the similarity of your username (Afisha.picnic) and the subject of the article, Afisha Picnic. Please note, Wikipedia policy does not allow usernames that represent a group or organization. In order to resolve this conflict, you should create a new account that does not represent any organization or group, and use that new account for all your Wikipedia activity. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 15:53, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
ok, thank you very much, i just created this account to use on wiki and named it after the first article I was planning to write. I will create a new account indeed. Should I somehow move this page I created to another account or should I leave it?
Since articles in Wikipedia are not owned by any account, there is no need to move anything. Just create your new account, and you may edit any article, including Afisha Picnic, with that new account. One other note: When posting on a talk page, such as this, remember to end your post with four tildes: ~~~~ This adds your signature to the post, so other people will know who wrote it. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 16:12, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Davnor, I will do so.Afisha.picnic (talk) 16:18, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question about searching articles

[edit]

Hi I just wrote about Keon-A Information Technology Co. Ltd.

It is really hard to find if i do not write exactly same as "Keon-A Information Technology Co. Ltd".

I want the article also can be found by different words such as "Keon-A", "keon-a", "keona", "keon-a information technology" and "keona inforamtion technology". I don't want to post the same article under the all dirrerent titles.

Could you help me to do it?

If you have any enquiry, please let me know.

Best regards,

Aither —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aither.shim (talkcontribs) 11:47, April 29, 2010

The best way to handle this is to use redirects. I have created the following redirects for you:
Please note, it is not necessary to include every variation of case, because Wikipedia will take care of this automatically when someone does a search. For example, if you search on any of the following, you will be redirected to your article:
  • keon-a
  • keona
  • keon-a information technology
  • keona information technology
I recommend that you read the instructions for creating redirects to learn more.
Note: Please remember to sign all posts on talk pages (such as this) by adding for tildes (~~~~) to the end of your post. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 16:44, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding you tagging article on Scott Ciment for deletion

[edit]

I did followed your direction by putting a hangon tag and putting something on the talk page in defending the notability of the article but it was deleted never-the-less. I was wondering if there is a way to undelete the article & transfer it on my userpage sandbox, so I can iron out all the kinks? Pjt48 (talk) 00:06, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your question. I do not know of a method for retrieving the deleted text, but you may want to review the information on the deletion review process to see what options you have. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 13:37, 3 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Proposed deletion of Eve Pearce

[edit]

I'll add references but firstly, I need you to show me. Realdude85 ( talk), 10:50, 1st May 2010 (UTC)

Burnley Rugby Club

[edit]

I have updated the page on Burnley Rugby Club. As this page is still being considered for deletion and no one seems interested, please could you review and re-vote??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trappedinburnley (talkcontribs) 17:33, 20 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have reviewed the changes, and agree that the article no longer fails the notability criteria. I have changed my vote accordingly. Thanks! Davnor (talk) 14:14, 21 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
