Welcome

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent edits, such as the ones to the page Devesh, do not conform to our policies. For more information on this, see Wikipedia's policies on vandalism and limits on acceptable additions. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so on Wikipedia:Sandbox rather than in articles.

If you still have questions, there is a new contributor's help page, or you can write {{helpme}} below this message along with a question and someone will be along to answer it shortly. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia.

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! Crafty (talk) 06:35, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Devesh, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Devesh. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Crafty (talk) 07:29, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is considered to be a conflict of interest to add yourself or people you know to Wikipedia; if you think that you are notable enough to satisfy the Wikipedia guidelines, then you can request that an article be written about you. Veinor (talk to me) 07:35, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest

[edit]

Devesh,

Obviously the entry you insist on adding to Devesh is about yourself. You need to understand that Wikipedia has rules about Conflict of Interest. You should read those before you go promoting yourself here. Crafty (talk) 07:36, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not vandalize pages, as you did with this edit to Devesh. If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 07:39, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning. You will be blocked from editing the next time you vandalize a page, as you did with this edit to Devesh.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 08:47, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest

[edit]

Hello. I see that you've gotten into some hot water quite early on. To ensure that we maintain a high quality encyclopedia, we have policies in place, one of them is conflict of interest policy. While you yourself may believe something, simply because you believe this doesn't mean it can be added to Wikipedia. I noticed you said you are well known in your country, do you by any chance have any references backing this up, perhaps an article in a newspaper? Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 08:59, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please contribute to the discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard#Devesh_Dabas. Thanks.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 09:26, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also if you edit in the same piece of text again you will be breaking the WP:3RR rule which says that you must not reverse someone elses edit more than three times. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:30, 7 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for your disruption caused by edit warring and violation of the three-revert rule. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.
