Swallows[edit]

Hi, I think your 'Barn Swallow' is a different species, perhaps H. tahitica (Pacific Swallow), as it lacks the distinctive blue breast band. Someone else has already removed it from the article; I've added a note on the Commons page, but you may want to ask Commons to rename it when you've checked the identification. in fact I would have removed it even if correct since there were already two images of H. r. rustica, and Featured Articles shouldn't be too cluttered with images. Commons, of course, is the place for image galleries. Nice photos Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:12, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Also worth noting that photographs with proper provenance, ie location and dates have superior value over those that do not indicate these additional bits of information- not in the caption but in their description on Commons. Presuming this was taken somewhere in the Nilgiris (Ooty) it is likely to be H. tahitica domicola - which is sometimes (eg. by PC Rasmussen) treated as a species.
