Request reason:

I am afraid that my edits to the Spur Steak Ranches page aligning with those more disruptive ones from ActoniaSA was a coincidence, but I understand your suspicions.

I only made an account yesterday and Wikipedia prompted me to make a few small edits and corrections, so I figured I'd try to find an article with an issue to two that I can try to fix. It happened that the Spur wiki was recommended to me on my home page, and the restaurant was a childhood favourite of mine, so of course I tried to rewrite bits of the information to be a bit less biased to address the issues highlighted in that article. Later I added a little bit of information to the list of DLC's on the Stellaris page.
These were my first edits, but they were done with good intentions, hoping that I could start contributing something to this amazing archive.
Sorry for the trouble. Disasterpiece77 (talk) 05:53, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Based on what I've seen related to this, I believe your explanation. I will remove the block. 331dot (talk) 18:52, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm curious, who recommended to you that you visit that particular article? 331dot (talk) 08:15, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reply to 331dot: When making a new account Wikipedia asks for a few interests and the regions you are familiar with, then Wikipedia itself recommends a list of articles that have flagged issues so you can try to make your first edit or two.

The Spur article was second or third on that list and I figured that I could try to address some of the marked issues, not knowing about the disruptions caused by the other folk who edited the article a bit before I did. I'm still figuring things out over here. Disasterpiece77 (talk) 09:15, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Noting for the record, CU data is not particularly useful in this case. The CU similarities between the two editors (geography) could also be explained by the article overlap (Spur Steak Ranches). --Yamla (talk) 09:41, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So, if you were asked to not edit about that company again, you'd be okay with that? 331dot (talk) 11:05, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't mind to leave it alone, I don't have a particular interest in the Spur restaurants.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Disasterpiece, since it seems like there's a good possibility you'll be editing soon, I wanted to give you a few bits of advice based on your first edits just to help you integrate with the community
First off, while it's a very good practice to remedy a citation needed note, as you did, and you showed good instincts on toning down the puffery on the Spur Steak Ranch page, a lot of times if something like this can't be independently sourced, it's a better idea to simply excise the text. If some locals consider them a favorite, then find references to that, and it's not really necessary to include at all their opinions of their own offerings, as we can presume they are fans of them. At least, unless their opinion of themselves is so notable, it has received its own coverage in reliable sources!
Second, I would encourage you to be less liberal with the minor edit checkbox. That is primarily for fixing spelling and formatting and dealing with obvious vandalism. While you correctly used it for spelling, things that add and remove content are not minor edits. You can read more about that at WP:MINOR
Lastly, I would recommend you read WP:ENGVAR which talks about what to do with the different English variants. You changed civilizations to civilisations on the Stellaris page, but the Manual of Style guideline tells us to keep articles internally consistent on the version of English they use. The word "civilizations" already appeared seven times on the page and the link you gave on Paradox's site to support the text also spelled it civilizations! This seems like a minor issue, but I assure you, sometimes on Wikipedia, there's nothing as brutal as a fight over a minor issue, and this is one that has led to a lot of ugliness. If you really want to go down the well and waste a couple hours of time, Kiev vs. Kyiv was one of the longest-running disputes on English Wikipedia, to the extent that it has its own talk page off the main Kyiv page with 16 pages of archives. Thanks, I'll try to stick to the "right" English and eventually look up on how proper citations work etc. For now I'm sticking to minor things to get the feel of it (not only spelling or grammatical errors, but I'll mark it appropriately when editing.)
Thank you for the pointers, any constructive criticism is always welcome! Disasterpiece77 (talk) 18:25, 7 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
