La Salle Extension University

[edit]

Thanks for your work on this page. Wikipedia has guidelines on style and content as described in the links above. Many parts of La Salle Extension University do not meet these criteria, including the alumni section. I am reverting your recent undo. Please come to Talk:La Salle Extension University if you'd like to discuss this with me. Thanks! Jokestress (talk) 03:30, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for your contributions to La Salle Extension University. The ed.gov site you cited does not have any search results for either "la salle extension" or "lasalle extension." Can you provide the exact link where you found claims about the school after 1982 and other locations? If you don't have them, they need to be removed. Jokestress (talk) 00:16, 26 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that the article should describe the school in a neutral manner, which is policy. However, it also needs to be based on reliable published sources that are verifiable. If you do not have published sources that state the school continued to offer degrees after 1982 or operated in other locations, we cannot have it in the article. I am going to remove that information again. Please do not add it back unless you can point to a reliable published source showing the school was in operation after 1982 and/or at other locations. Thanks. Jokestress (talk) 16:44, 27 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The additions you made regarding the LSEU date of closure and other locations were not supported by the sources. If you can show where on ed.gov that information resides, we can add it back in. If you have any other published sources that are verifiable and reliable which contain that information, those are fine, too. Jokestress (talk) 03:47, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The US Department of Education is a valid source, but they need to publish the facts in question in order to include them. Please show us where that information can be found in their publications. Jokestress (talk) 04:24, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Username

[edit]

Your username suggests you are affiliated with the Department of Education, as Dan Madzelan is the name of an employee with the department. You have also made representations that you are an Under Secretary of Education for Post Secondary Education. If you are Daniel Madzelan, that is acceptable, but if you are not, your username is a violation of Wikipedia policies. If you are not Daniel Madzelan, you need to change your username immediately. Jokestress (talk) 19:29, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What Jokestress says is on the money: If you are that person, you should acknowledge it explicitly on your user page; if you are not that person, you should change your ID. Either way, as with the user calling himself LEU Truth Squad, you are at risk of being blocked, specifically for possible conflict-of-interest. Try not to let it get to that point. And don't accuse other editors of bad faith, as that could also put you at risk of being blocked. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots19:35, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removing sources

[edit]

Please do not remove reliably-sourced citations as you did at La Salle Extension University. It is considered vandalism. Thank you. Jokestress (talk) 19:29, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My name speaks for itself. As for my efforts to complete the history of La Salle Extension University and render a complete, factual history, with reliable sources - as I have done - I consider the removal of the sources also vandalism. I have previously stated my reasons for getting involved here. For the most part, I am in agreement with the editorial changes and improvements that you have made, except for your obvious refusal to consider the obvious. I think it is clear as to the ulterior motive of the other individual who I do not know but whose attacks on the university and its graduates I personally find offensive. Incidentally, I find Jokestress's history and editorial efforts interesting.Dmadzelanedgov (talk) 19:53, 28 November 2009 (UTC)Dmadzelanedgov[reply]

ANI notice

[edit]

Hello, Dmadzelanedgov. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. GiantSnowman 20:02, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be an endless loop of reversions going on in the La Salle Extension University article, and I have raised this matter on WP:ANI, if you want to comment there. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots20:03, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please see my message contained in my User Talk page. It speaks for itself. I have only tired to correctly and accurately depict a complete history of La Salle Extension University since it is clear that some folks only have part of its history and story. My involvement began in response to an attack on the university and its graduates by a one LEU Truth Squad (unknown to me) who clearly has ulterior personal motives for attacking La Salle directed at an individual. I agree that this has been back and forth and reasonable minds need to prevail. While it is clear that La Salle Extension University's law school and many of its diploma and diploma programs were closed in 1982, La Salle Extension University was acquired through its successor parent organizations who continued some of its degree programs. Dmadzelanedgov (talk) 20:15, 28 November 2009 (UTC)Dmadzelanedgov[reply]

I must also state that I am not as experienced as some in editing or submitting to Wikipedia. Although, I have found it interesting and at times frustrating. Dmadzelanedgov (talk) 20:17, 28 November 2009 (UTC)Dmadzelanedgov[reply]

You need to address the COI questions that are being raised. There's no "ulterior" motive on the part of LEU Truth Squad - his personal agenda for attacking LSEU is very much out in the open. Meanwhile, it looks like you might have personal motives for defending LSEU. You and the others need to stop the edit skirmish on the article, and instead use its talk page to discuss what sources are valid or not, and why. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots20:24, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have stated my reason for entering into this foray, ie. to render a complete history of La Salle Extension University. I will be pleased to provide the verifiable sources. I understand the confusion that may surround a closed university, especially one that was acquired by other organizations. Clearly, there are many graduates of La Salle Extension University that can attest to the programs offered by La Salle. I have no knowledge of the matter between LEU Truth Squad and the subject of attention. However I do not think that it is appropriate to speak disparagingly about the university and its graduates as a diploma mill, much less bring this personal matter into the discussion.

Feel free to provide valid sources. I should point out that personal testimony, be it positive or negative, does not qualify. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots01:07, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As a source for something about La Salle, on November 25 you cited www.ed.gov/offices/OSFAP/PEPS/docs. That page comes back as "404 not found.": Do you have a functioning ref, and what is it supposed to prove? The obligation is for you to prove claims such as a school was in operation in 2000, or that it granted advanced degrees beyond the Bachelors, via reliable sources, not for other to prove a negative. A search of Ed.Gov presently shows no documents containing "La Salle Extension University" [1]. Thanks. Edison (talk) 05:38, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Once the socks question was raised on ANI, the editor here disappeared. Seems like he's got some 'splainin' to do. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots05:47, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The whole controversy seems unclear. The real life Madzelan is said to hold a BA in Economics from Univ of Maryland, from the program of a meeting where he spokepage 3 of 18. Is it claimed somewhere that he is a La Salle Grad? Edison (talk) 06:02, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeh. Both contentious editors have an agenda, and neither is willing to fully spell it out, although they're willing to on at great length about the general topic of what LEU did or did not offer, and when. It has something to do with someone who either works in the Obama administration or is seeking a job there, and who claims an advanced degree from LEU in 2000. That, near as I can tell, is the tipping point of this issue. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots06:14, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Employers are always impressed by degrees from fine institutions like this one. Edison (talk) 23:44, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As impressed then as they would be now from a degree you might get over the internet. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots00:00, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
According to the DETC and CHEA, LSEU was a highly-regarded and well-respected institution. Stan Battles (talk) 16:23, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
