Portal:Current events/2012 10 June

[edit]

I'm curious about the page Portal:Current events/2012 10 June that you created. Firstly, the usual naming format is year, month, day, and there is already a page Portal:Current events/2012 June 10 covering that day's events. Secondly, the events listed on that page did not occur on June 10, 2012. Can you explain? -- John of Reading (talk) 17:06, 5 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. It's for the link from Template:ITN_talk used on Talk:Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley. Those were the events in the "In the news" section of the main page on June 10.--Don King's hair (talk) 06:43, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ah yes. I've changed the talk page to match the documentation of Template:ITN talk. I think there's an easier way to have the template do what you want, without you having to create a new page, since it could link directly to the relevant old version of the "In the news" section. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:21, 6 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This change has been implemented, so your page Portal:Current events/2012 10 June is now redundant. -- John of Reading (talk) 14:57, 13 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Jim1138. I noticed that you made a change to an article, but you didn't provide a reliable source. I've removed it for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Jim1138 (talk) 10:33, 8 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Which article?--Don King's hair (talk) 07:54, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed a few of this user's changes and comments, and wonder whether they are in fact of good faith, or just plain immaturity. 99.171.231.108 (talk) 02:49, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Jim1138 (talk · contribs)? Do you have some examples?--Don King's hair (talk) 17:54, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Common Names

[edit]

WP:COMMONNAMES only work for certain articles. Click on Nonito Donaire's official website [1] and it says in big red letters "NONITO DONAIRE JR.", even Donaire's personal twitter reads Jr on it. So you go ahead and tell me some article off another website holds more say in this. --2Nyce (talk) 20:36, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

By the Wikipedia policy WP:Article titles, titles should be consistent with usage in reliable sources.--Don King's hair (talk) 17:51, 11 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to close the report you filed against TwoNyce as warned. The current version of the article is yours (I am not endorsing any version). If you revert again, even if TwoNyce reverts first, you risk being blocked. You should participate in the discussion on the talk page and do whatever else needs to be done to resolve the dispute.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:07, 6 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Lord in heaven that took forever to figure out how to do this on my phone. I understand what ur saying, and where ur coming from. I read the article, and it seems they must be wrong, cause the qc observer often does. my family is from dilworth and myers park area, and since I can clearly picture both entrances in my head to grier town, I can't imagine that was not part of charlotte then. my mother, who lived here then, confirmed to me when I asked. so since I'm the worlds most stubborn woman, how about a compromise of "a predominantly black neighborhood that has since been absorbed by the city of Charlotte" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qtakhisis (talkcontribs) 20:40, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I sware Im not trying to be rude, and am honestly trying for the best accuracy (if not spelling, i suck at spelling) that I can. But I wanted to double check my facts as well as I could. So I pulled up the annexation history. I was fully ready to apoligize if I was wrong. This is a link to it: http://ww.charmeck.org/Planning/Annexation/Annexation_History.pdf Grier town is in the lightest green section between Monroe Rd and Randolph Rd (which changes its name I think 4 times as u drive along it)in the section above the "rd" in randolph rd before you hit eastway. Monroe Rd stops being called 5th st at the light just before that where the fireman training used to be, but now its a medical building. The particular section was annexed between 1900 and 1959, but truthfully, was always part of Charlotte. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qtakhisis (talkcontribs) 21:52, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You are not being rude. Quite to the contrary, it's a pleasure discussing this with you.
That is good research. The compromise you suggested looks good to me.--Don King's hair (talk) 18:04, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
