Question re:COI[edit]

Are you perchance the author of The Intention Economy? I note that you have made a couple of edits to that article. If you are the author then you have a conflict of interest and under Wikipedia's terms and conditions are not permitted to directly edit the article (though you may propose changes on the talk page with appropriate references). Further under those term and conditions: you are required to declare your conflict of interest on your user page. See WP:COI for more.

If you are not the author, then your username may be problem as it appears to represent a notable person. 81.154.179.214 (talk) 15:42, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

<transferred from my talk page to keep the conversation in one place> According to the history of this page, the original author is Mary Hodder. But I am listed as the author of this page: something I did not know until I received a note from 81.154.179.214, instructing me to declare a conflict of interest, since I made some small edits here.
I only made those because I was not the original author and felt okay correcting links that went to porn sites. Since I am now listed as the author of the page, I apologize for making those edits and will make no more edits to the page. If somebody else wants to make corrections, or return my edits to their prior state, please feel free. Meanwhile, apologies. <Comment added by Dsearls>
You are not listed as the author of the page but as the author of the book. There is no need to undo your edits because they are uncontroversial (and anyone else spotting where the URL led would have done the same thing). However as the author of the book you do have a conflict of interest in the article but as you state that you will make no more edits, that settles that.
Per the requirements at WP:COI you should declare your interest on your user page, and as long as you do not edit anything with which you are connected, that should be all you need do.
And finally a somewhat belated:

Disambiguation link notification for March 16[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited KDWN, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page WGN. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:28, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
