Musanga Village
[edit]A village of many wonders found in the north eastern part of Caprivi region, it is approximately 6-8 km from Katima Mulilo. Lozi is their mother tongue and this is so because of the thin barrier between Zambia and Namibia. Musanga is the closest village to the Zambezi River which is the border line, thus Musanga people share cultures and languages with Lozi people in Zambia, Lozi is a Browed language but it is the First language taught in all Schools in the Caprivi region, this almost brought about conflict between tribes but that is water under the bridge now. Musanga Translates in English as cigarette, no one really knows where the name originates but the elders say a long time ago tobacco from Zambia used to come to Musanga before spreading in the other villages, it was more like a tobacco bay, maybe this is how the name came into being. Every tribe has a leader/chief hence Musanga people belong to the Mafwe Tribe. They have a community school named Imukusi Combined, it was named after chief Imukusi.
