Welcome

[edit]

You have an obvious conflict of interest, writing about yourself is discouraged but not banned. Please read the guidance below:

  • When you write about a person, you must provide independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that they meet the notability guidelines. Sources that are not acceptable include those linked to the person or an associated organisation, press releases, YouTube, IMDB, social media and other sites that can be self-edited, blogs, websites of unknown or non-reliable provenance, and sites that are just reporting what the person claims or interviewing them. Note that references should be in-line so we can tell what fact each is supporting, and should not be bare urls. Some of your text is unreferenced, and some is sourced to unsuitable sites, like your own pages, interviews with you and the review site Goodreads. However, you appear to reach our notability threshold.
  • You must write in a non-promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic, with verifiable facts, not opinions or reviews. The text isn't too bad, but, for example, is internationally recognized really justified by an article in French?
  • There shouldn't be any url links in the article, only in the "References" or "External links" sections.
  • You must not copy text from elsewhere. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. We require that text posted here can be used, modified and distributed for any purpose, including commercial; text is considered to be copyright unless explicitly stated otherwise. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient. This is the real stumbling block. You seem to be saying that the copied sites are claiming copyright on text they have stolen from you, that you would otherwise release here. That's a matter you must sort out with them, but your own website seems have the pages I've seen tagged ©2018 by Black Hat Magic Productions. That means they can't be copied here since we only accept text that's free to use for any purpose, including commercial. If I've overlooked a page you've released to us, please point it out, otherwise I'm afraid for legal reasons we don't restore copyright text. Basically, we can only verify your identity and ownership of the text if it's explicit on your website. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 09:09, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jimfbleak: Hi Jim. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I added the "Creative Commons Public Domain 1.0 license" to my web site, so the text I created for my "About Ed Polgardy" page (https://www.edpolgardy.com/about) is now in the public domain and should be able to be used here on Wikipedia. Since you said "The text isn't too bad" in your response to me, I would like to get the page back up on Wiki as a draft document so I can make whatever revisions I have to make to get it published. Is this possible now that I took the copyright notice off of my bio? Looking forward to hearing back from you! Ed Polgardy (talk) 22:32, 5 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
