I have reverted your insertion of statements about a discrepancy of the area of Tiananmen Square because of the Wikipedia policy against original research: see WP:OR. To be precise, your calculations based on google earth appears to be original research on your part, rather than being based on reliable, published sources.

I am, however, interested in how you came to that conclusion. How did you define the "Square" in your calculation? For example, did it include the National History Museum and the Great Hall of the People, or Mao's mausoleum? Did it include the roadway of Chang'an Avenue? You are welcome to post on my talk page. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 03:05, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think that the official figure includes the roadways around your rectangle as well - i.e. including the entire open space bounded by the Tiananmen in the north, the National Museum in the East, Great Hall of the People in the West, and the Qianmen in the south -- I've marked that area out in this image (with apologise to Google Earth). From a rough calculation by hand (you can check with your google maps area tool), this seems to be around 400,000 sq meters - still a little different from the official figures, but fairly close. The darkish paved roadway you see around the square should, I think, be regarded as part of the square - they're usually sealed to traffic and is pretty much identical to the stone-paved part of the square in terms of usual usage. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 10:12, 12 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Tiananmen-square.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tiananmen-square.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 07:07, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia weekly interviewee userbox[edit]

Hi there, I've been thinking about this for a bit and I think we've got it working. User:scartol has been kind enough to create a userbox for the interviewees of Wikipedia weekly so you can put it on your userpage if you wish. Just copy this code:

{{User:Scartol/ubx/WikWeekGuest|32|http://wikipediaweekly.org/2007/10/09/episode-32-trust-me/}}

Which should come out looking like this

This user was a guest on Episode 32 of Wikipedia Weekly. You can listen here.

The article Peter Pirolli has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Sea Shepherd Conservation Society may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "{}"s. Eigenvector centrality and PageRank[edit]

Based on the edit history of the subsection Eigenvector Centrality, it seems that you are the one who cited the AMS feature column on PageRank to substantiate the claim that "Google's PageRank is a variant of the Eigenvector centrality measure" (this claim, by the way, was added by another user back in 2007). However, the concept of centrality measure is not mentioned anywhere in that AMS article. Also, for eigenvector centrality, we want to find the Perron vector of an adjacency matrix, while for PageRank, we want to find the Perron vector of a column-stochastic matrix. Since the only adjacency matrices that are column-stochastic are the permutation matrices, apart from this trivial case (in which the Perron vector is the all-one vector and everyone has equal ranking/centrality), the two eigenvector problems are fundamentally different and we cannot cast one into another. Would you please explain how that AMS article is relevant? The suffocated (talk) 16:23, 17 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
