Nationality[edit]

Please do not alter the nationality of BLPs without providing a good reason. These have been chosen for a reason in the past per WP:UKNATIONALS and shouldn't be changed lightly. Additionally do not alter people "from Northern Ireland" to be "Northern Irish". 1) Northern Irish isn't generally accepted as an identity and 2) we should not impose an identity on someone from Northern Ireland unless we have reliable sources that prove how they identify. Canterbury Tail talk 12:12, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:UKNATIONALS : Since the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, people born in Northern Ireland are generally entitled to choose to be British citizens, Irish citizens or both. Those who choose both will have dual citizenship. Irish is a demonym for another country so Northern Irish is clearly the case there. Editholic (talk) 18:29, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Plus at wikidata he is also referred as Northern Irish, not from Northern Ireland. Editholic (talk) 18:34, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wikidata is not a reliable source. For people from Northern Ireland we shouldn't put an identity on them unless they have self-identified as people from Northern Ireland have full rights to self-identification and we shouldn't do it for them. Additionally you need to take this to the talk page and get consensus, but from Northern Ireland is the usual way to refer to people from Northern Ireland. The onus is on you, the editor making the change, to get consensus on the talk page for your change if you're reverted. Please also read WP:BRD.
Also you remove the 3RR warning from your page (as is your right) with the note that you hadn't violated 3RR despite the fact you were over it on the Sam Ryder (singer) article where you made 4 reversions in a 24 hour period. So please stop your edit warring to get your preferred interpretation of someone's nationality. Canterbury Tail talk 18:47, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It is and since I weren't the one making the edit there, apparently also other users agree with me. Dornan was born in N.I., thus he can be called Northern Irish in every way, it's not like he is an immigrant to the country or something (let alone the instruction I posed above). Sam Ryder page isn't a proper example as the other user got blocked so they were the ones violating the 3RR rule actually. Editholic (talk) 18:52, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please get consensus for your edits and stop edit warring. If someone reverts you, take it to the talk page. Canterbury Tail talk 18:56, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You do not answer on anything I mention above, thus somebody could interpret my arguments and thus my edit as proper. So no. Editholic (talk) 18:59, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What do you want an answer on? And it doesn't matter what you think your interpretations are, if you are reverted you discuss you do not edit war for your preferences. Canterbury Tail talk 19:01, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You actually do by starting the rvs procedure, not me. Editholic (talk) 19:06, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. BRD. Be Bold, if Reverted then Discuss. The onus is on the person trying to make the edit to get the consensus, not the reverter. Canterbury Tail talk 19:11, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Still by not answering my arguments above you are indirectly admitting you are wrong. We are still on a talk page, doesn't matter if it's the main one or mine. Editholic (talk) 19:14, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And I've told you my position, on Wikipedia it is usual practice to reference people from Northern Ireland instead of Northern Irish as we do not ascribe an identity to them unless they have self-identified into it. Canterbury Tail talk 19:37, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have also had to submit an edit warning and page protection request for three related articles. Erzan (talk) 08:27, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Copy/paste moves removes the page history required by license. See wp:Moving a page. Adakiko (talk) 09:25, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What do you mean? Editholic (talk) 09:26, 13 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Edit Warning[edit]

Information icon Hi Editholic! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Space Man several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Article, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Erzan (talk) 07:47, 16 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
