Information icon Hi El cabrone! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Jérôme Gilloux that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Schwede66 18:08, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! Paulpat99 (talk) 02:37, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Yang Jian (diver), you may be blocked from editing. If a swimmer or diver has turned professional, we need reliable sources that state the fact.C.Fred (talk) 17:31, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I would say that a diver who competes at both the olympic games and world championships is pretty much a professional
no amateurs compete at the olympic games nor the world championships... El cabrone (talk) 17:33, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hrm. Explain Alexandra Walsh, then. Obviously an amateur swimmer, yet she competed at the 2020 Olympics. Again, do not change articles based on your opinions or original research; you must cite reliable sources. —C.Fred (talk) 17:39, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
How about you show me proof then that she is an amateur then... do you honestly think that an amateur would be allowed to compete in the most prestigious sporting event in the world!!! El cabrone (talk) 17:43, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
i guess that means that i can compete at the olympics aswell right? seeing as i am an amateur swimmer myself El cabrone (talk) 17:49, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is zero need to add "professional" into hundreds of articles, as you are doing. Regardless of whether it's sourced or not, it's no benefit to the articles themselves. If you want to add professional to hundreds of sports articles, get a consensus at WT:SPORTS to make the changes. Joseph2302 (talk) 17:50, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
i would actually have to humbly disagree with you on that point and say that it is indeed beneficial, it may not be obvious to a random reader that the athlete is indeed professional, look i'm a perfectionist and the articles just look empty to me without the professional tag, especially if the athlete has competed at the olympics and the world championships. I'm not trying to vandalise any page, and i'm deeply sorry if you guys feel that way. El cabrone (talk) 17:52, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
of course i would never add a professional tag if the athlete has never competed at either the olympics or world championships, but to me an athelete who competes at the olympic and world championships is either a pro or atleast as close to a professional athlete as one can get. El cabrone (talk) 17:54, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
also it's pretty arrogant to say that it's of no benefit to the articles, regardless if it's sourced or not. that's not for you too judge/decide. El cabrone (talk) 18:03, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also agree that you should stop adding the "professional" tag to many articles without seeking consensus first. It also needs to be researched per individual as "professional" could be interpreted as having sponsorship or being paid to compete in that sport, which may not always be the case. So you may even be adding incorrect information in the process. Simeon (talk) 18:54, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, professional in most cases does mean that the athlete gets sponsored or paid for their performance, i guess that i mainly took it as a view of a person who only competes at the highest level, which was my mistake, but i'm willing to change the edits. El cabrone (talk) 18:58, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Stvbastian. I noticed that you made an edit concerning content related to a living (or recently deceased) person on An Se-young, but you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now. Wikipedia has a very strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate and clear. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Stvbastian (talk) 18:43, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, i thought seeing as she has competed at both the olympic games and world championships, that she would qualify as a professional badminton player
Kind Regards El cabrone (talk) 18:45, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
All material in Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists, and captions, must be verifiable. All quotations, and any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged, must include an inline citation to a reliable source that directly supports the material. Any material that needs an inline citation but does not have one may be removed. Please immediately remove contentious material about living people that is unsourced or poorly sourced (Wikipedia guideline WP:V). Stvbastian (talk) 18:52, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
dumb rule is dumb, how about maybe try to remove vandals who you know actually vandalize pages, instead of being so upset over a insignificant edit. El cabrone (talk) 18:54, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Are you familiar with WP:V? If yes, I am not sure why you reverted my edits. If not, please go and familiarize yourself with this core policy instead of edit-warring. Ymblanter (talk) 18:57, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add unsourced or poorly sourced material to Wikipedia, as you did at Regan Smith (swimmer). —C.Fred (talk) 18:56, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Based on your comments above, any further attempts to add "professional" to an article without sources look like intentional disruption of the project and will be dealt with as such. —C.Fred (talk) 18:58, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
please read my response to Simeon, regarding my thoughts on this. El cabrone (talk) 19:00, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also the intention was never to disrupt a page, merely improve it El cabrone (talk) 19:00, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Please remove all "professional" tag that you added in some Wikipedia articles. I will wait for 24 hours, and if there are any left, your account will be blocked. Thank You Stvbastian (talk) 19:17, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm already in the process of removing the tags please be patient. El cabrone (talk) 19:19, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Pornpawee Chochuwong. Stvbastian (talk) 02:14, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you've started re-adding "professional" to articles again (after the discussion where you agreed to remove all your edits adding professional). And still not well sourced or useful information: [1], [2]. What part of "stop adding professional" was unclear? Joseph2302 (talk) 08:38, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
i literally just posted a reference source to the official badminton world federation page, where it clearly says the year she turned professional, so what is the problem adding the professional tag for thar??? El cabrone (talk) 14:27, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
also i did remove the professional tag for poorly unsourced articles, as you requested, but when it clearly says on the official badminton site, that she has been a professional player since 2004, then i don't really see the harm in adding the professional tag, aswell as the reference link for it. Request reason:

Your reason here El cabrone (talk) 14:44, 29 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Unfortunately, your assurances are unconvincing, for several reasons, including the following. You stated that you were removing the "professional" labels which you had posted, in a context in which as you must have known pretty well anyone would have taken that as meaning that you would not be doing the same again. You then waited a few days, and went back to adding them again, including restoring at least some of those you had removed. When I checked a few of your recent edits, in the very first one that I looked at you sourced your edit to Twitter (!) while for the third one that I saw you did not provide any source at all. That does not give much encouragement to have much faith in your claim that you thought that doing the opposite of what you said you would was fine, because this time you were citing sources. You may have, as you say, not intended to do any harm, but from what you have written above it is clear that you did intend to arrogantly impose your own view of what was best, simply dismissing the consensus among other editors. Each individual editor ignoring whatever everybody else thinks, and persistently trying to impose their own preferences, is not how Wikipedia works. You say that you "respect" the opinion of "guys" (as you call them) but nothing in the tone of your comments suggests respect either for the opinions of editors with whom you disagree or for Wikipedia policies. Everything encourages me to the view that shortening your block on the basis of implausible assurances would send the wrong message. JBW (talk) 14:34, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I understand that my adding of the professional tag has been seen as disruptive, i promise i had no bad intentions and only wanted to give the full picture of the sportspersons, i thought as seeing that the official federation site wrote the year that they turned professional, i assumed that it was alright to re add the professional tag aswell as the link to the source
However i do respect your guys opinion that the tag added nothing to the articles. And i apologize that my edits seemed disruptive. like i said the intention was never to do any harm
