Decker Brothers

[edit]

No hard feelings, I hope. The deletion wasn't personal; rather, the article didn't assert notability and had no reliable, verifiable sources. I've restored the article at Doug's request; if you guys can make it better that would be great. I'll help out if I can. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! 22:04, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 22:19, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia! Since MoP is one of my favorite admins, I was looking at his talk page today and noticed you had a bit of a shaky start to your Wiki career, and just wanted to let you know to keep your chin up! I've done some copyediting to your Decker Brothers article and also made the reference proper and added a defunct company infobox. I might suggest trying to find some online sources to link in your article, and try to find an exact date of when they ceased operations. Let me know if you have any questions about Wikipedia and I'll do my best to help you out. Best regards, xenocidic (talk) 23:23, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem at all. I know how frustrating it can be to see your hard work removed because you didn't get a chance to prove its notability. One suggestion would be to work on a fledgling article in your userspace prior to moving it to the mainspace. This can be done, either just at User:Eliwhale, since you haven't started a userpage yet, or at User:Eliwhale/(name of article here) once you start putting stuff onto your userpage. Then once you have your article all laid out with references and notability proven, you can just cut and paste the wikitext into the article proper. Happy editing. xenocidic (talk) 23:35, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not at all! (re: being overzealous). one of Wikipedia's core tenets is to be bold. as far as being new, we were all new once. I just try and learn something new every day and avoid wikistress as much as possible =). I find that one of the best ways to learn a new trick is to look at the code on an existing page, cut and paste, and try and recreate the effect as desired. I'm going to put in a nice huge template with lots of stuff to read about - it should help. =) xenocidic (talk) 23:46, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Founding date?

[edit]

Someone had a question about the founding date as they found an online source stating 1862. See the talk page here Talk:Decker_Brothers. xenocidic (talk) 00:30, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
