Iyan is an africa dish,Iyan is a known and staple popular among some Nigeria state which are Lagos, Ogun,Oyo,Ekiti,kwara,Cross river and some other state. it is not limited to Nigeria alone but some other countries such as Ghana, Ivory Coast and Benin. Pounded yam is a choice of food people prefer to go with whenever there are some traditional occasion.

Pounded yam preparation Pounded yam is been cooked with the peeling of the yam after peeling it is been cooked, then cook yam without adding salt,and when it is ready for consumption,[1] it is been poured into a mortal which look like a bucket and it is been marsh by a pestle inside the bucket, until there exist no lump of yam in the food or been mashed until desired texture and it is been served with any traditional soup of choice And there is another form of cooking which is the machine method, where after boiling the yam we use the machine to pound,[2] And there exist another which is the poundo yam where the industry have blended the yam into a powder form and it is been cooked with hot water and it is stirred together to get desired texture and it is served with desired soup.[3][4]
