Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Epicsports, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

before the question. Again, welcome! Doug Weller talk 12:36, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Nicolas Jackson, did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Nicolas Jackson. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. ExclusiveEditor Notify Me! 14:18, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Exclusive Editor,
- Thank you for your message.
- I have reviewed the guidelines and would like to apologise for reverting the information. I believe that the information I am aiming to edit is inaccurate, however, I will look to resolve this on the talk board, as per your recommendation. Epicsports (talk) 14:33, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
Organizational account not allowed
[edit]Shared accounts (including accounts of business and organsations) are not allowed on wikipedia. You cannot represent anyone. Account should be operated by a single user. See WP:NOSHARING. Also, your username is not allowed as it indicates 'shared account' see: WP:ISU and also WP:ORGNAME. You shall be blocked soon. Regards, ExclusiveEditor Notify Me! 14:14, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- Dear Exclusive Editor,
- I am not operating a shared account. I am a single user. I'd be happy to change my username to reflect this, if this is a problem. I am simply trying to correct the information regarding Nicolas Jackson. Epicsports (talk) 14:17, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
"I am writing on behalf of the football agency that represents Nicolas Jackson." That's what you said on Talk:Nicolas Jackson. If this doesn't indicate you are not representing an organisation, what does? ExclusiveEditor Notify Me! 14:20, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- I do work for the football agency, however, I am the sole user of the account I have created. I have never shared my account details with anything. The account is tied to my personal work email, that only I have access to. I never claimed to be an organisation. After reviewing the two guidelines you have cited, I believe that I am in violation of the guidelines on usernames. For this, I apologise. I am happy to change my username so that it reflects Wikipedia's guidelines. Epicsports (talk) 14:27, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
If you stop making unconstructive edits to articles you are related to, without taking consensus of talk page, and change your username, and add WP:paid editor template as you are some or other way paid, maybe you could edit. Lets see. ExclusiveEditor Notify Me! 14:34, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- Certainly! I will look to resolve the informational dispute on Nicolas Jackson's page through the talk page. In the meantime, I will not edit the page until I can come to a general consensus with the other editors.
- Regarding the change of username, could you please let me know how I could do this, as I could not find a place in the account settings to do this.
- Thanks in advance :) Epicsports (talk) 14:38, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
Please use {{Ping|Username}}
to notify users if you are talking o them. Regarding your username, you may find help at WP:RENAME. Use WP:Teahouse for questions where experts on wikipeda will help you. Please note that I am not sure if you are allowed to edit, maybe some admin will check you. Regards, ExclusiveEditor Notify Me! 15:16, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
Your username
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Epicsports", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually (not your role), such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87", but not "SEO Manager at XYZ Company".
Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Alternatively, you can just create a new account and use that for editing. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. – robertsky (talk) 04:09, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
Name change misses the point
[edit]It's simple. See WP:PAiD - whatever name you use, you need to declare yourself to be a paid editor and avoid any edits related to lhe people you work with. In fact, it would be more transparent and IMHO better if Epicsports was part of your new name. Doug Weller talk 12:35, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. I have requested a username name change that will reflect the fact that I am an individual that's related to my employer. I will also promptly declare myself as a paid editor. Epicsports (talk) 12:52, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
