- The article has been deleted. I'd like to retrieve it "Sam Rabi" for future improvement. If I understand it correctly, the purpose of wikipedia articles on people is to introduce a person including what did the person do, life experience, career, somethimes even marriage history, etc., to the public, right? So the public can know more about the person they are seraching for online. For example, I only knew people like Bill Gates, Joe Biden, Trump, etc., are rich and famous before, but I know more about them after reading their past, including their business. Therefore, thoses articles should also be considered as promotion and publicising. I just don't understand why my article was deleted. Feiyas (talk) 13:54, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Sam rabi
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Sam rabi, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Mvqr (talk) 12:09, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
I see that at Talk:Sam Rabi you wrote "This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... Sam Rabi actually did a lot of service to the community around his stores. And there are many people who are interested to know more about him. It is clearly impossible by telling everyone you meet about him. Nowadays, people tend to find answers online. The Wikipedia platform would definitely be a big help. I wish more people may find out he is inspiring." If that's your an idea of a reason why a page is not promotional, then I can't help wondering what you think would be promotional. Saying that the page was written to enable people to know more about him (that is to say in order to publicise him) with a view to persuade more people to think that "he is inspiring", sounds to me pretty close to saying that it was written to promote him. - So, what's the purpose of wikipedia on a person? Introducing the person to the public, right? that's promotion and publicity, right? All the wikipedia articles about people contain personal life experience, careers, educations, what did the person do, etc., right? The article I created about Sam Rabi is to introduce him to public, just like articles about Bill Gates, Joe Biden, Trump, etc. I know they are rich and famous, but I can know more about them through wikipedia, that's the purpose. Sorry, but I failed to understand the difference. Feiyas (talk) 13:21, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
- I will offer you some advice, which I hope may be helpful to you for any future editing you may choose to do. If you really can't see the difference between the kind of writing you did, clearly designed to impress readers with how wonderful the person you wrote is, and reporting from a neutral point of view, then you are likely to find it difficult to contribute to Wikipedia in the neutral way required. However, if you get more experience of editing Wikipedia, you may after a while understand the point. If you do wish to continue editing, my advice to new editors is that it is best to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than creating new articles. That way any mistakes you make will be small ones, and you won't have the discouraging experience of repeatedly seeing hours of work deleted. Gradually, you will get to learn how Wikipedia works, and after a while you will know enough about what is acceptable to be able to write whole new articles without fear that they will be deleted. Over the years I have found that editors who start by making small changes to existing articles and work up from there have a far better chance of having a successful time here than those who jump right into creating new articles from the start. Almost all of us, when we start editing Wikipedia, have little or no knowledge of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, so many of us start out with wrong ideas what kind of editing is acceptable. In my case, for example, I came here with a number of ideas about Wikipedia which over time I learnt were mistaken, so I don't in any way blame you for doing the same. Speedy deletion nomination of Sam Rabi (Aladdin Market)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Sam Rabi (Aladdin Market) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
