Please note that categories are not how you add articles to lists. Categories are how you add articles to categories, while lists are how you add articles to lists. If you want to add her to List of American artists 1900 and after, then you go to that list and edit the list to add her to it — but you can't add it to her article as a category, because it doesn't exist as a category, it exists as a list.
