Losing candidates
[edit]Unsuccessful candidates and nominees for public office are generally not notable, even at the higher levels such as Congress, unless they would have been notable without their candidacy; for more, see WP:POLITICIAN. Somebody like perennial candidate Zimmerman is not notable, since the coverage is generally about the race, not about Zimmerman the person. Thank you, though, for working with us here; and I will be delighted to help wherever I can. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:26, 28 June 2011 (UTC)
Infoboxes for Nebraska legislators
[edit]Hello FlyOverGirl! I see that you've been doing considerable work on articles on Nebraska politicians, including adding an infobox to Patrick Bourne. Could I suggest some tweaks to your infobox? First, instead of starting it "Infobox State Senator", use "Infobox officeholder". Second, instead of "state_senate=Nebraska", use "state_legislature=Nebraska". That way, the second line in the infobox will be "Member of the Nebraska Legislature" rather than "Member of the Nebraska Senate" (which, of course, hasn't existed since 1936). I've fixed the Bourne article; the two changes show up in this diff.
Also, I notice that you often don't provide an edit summary. Could I ask you to do so? Just something quick like "added infobox" would be enough. Unfortunately, articles on politicians draw lots of problem edits—vandalism, POV-pushing, OR, etc., etc. An edit summary tells article-watchers what you've done, and relieves them of the necessity of checking to make sure that your edits are OK.
Thanks for all the work on the Nebraska pols. I'm currently going through Category:Nebraska State Senators, fixing that senate-vs.-legislature business, and I'm finding a lot of articles with no infoboxes. If you're out to add infoboxes to all of those articles, you've got some work in front of you. Good luck with it! — Ammodramus (talk) 17:25, 9 February 2015 (UTC)
