Speedy deletion nomination of Gavyn bailey

[edit]

Hello Gavynbailey,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Gavyn bailey for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Skrelk (talk) 08:41, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome

[edit]

Hello, Gavynbailey, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you created was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gavyn_bailey, which appears to be an article about yourself. This is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians—as this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. Your user page, however, is a great place to write about yourself, making sure to stay within user page guidelines. Just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit it normally.

The page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hello, Gavynbailey. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Gavyn Bailey, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Skrelk (talk) 09:06, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Gavynbailey", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because you have declared yourself as the publicist of Gavyn bailey - therefore your username implies that you are impersonating him. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. --Drm310 (talk) 10:13, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

Hello, Gavynbailey. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Gavyn Bailey, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. As his publicist, you really should not be editing the article directly. You have a professional and financial interest in the subject, and it impairs your ability to write from a neutral perspective. Please review the plain and simple conflict of interest guide and the notability guidelines for musicians. Then state your case on the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gavyn Bailey page as to why you think it should be kept (note that future notability is not a valid case - Wikipedia is not a crystal ball). If the article does survive the AfD debate, then you should make any further suggestions on the article talk page instead of editing the article directly. Good luck. --Drm310 (talk) 00:13, 31 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
