Doug Ford Jr. protected under false pretenses
Hi, Please unprotect this BLP you just protected. The editor who requested protection has been edit warring and his claim of vandalism is baloney as you can see by the fact that no editor has been even warned of vandalism. This is a Subject who just a few days ago joined a major party leadership race governing a population of 16 million and there are likely to be many citizens who will be attracted to read and maybe some to edit the BLP....it is not nice for the newly attracted to editing be discouraged based upon no evidence at all of vandalism....especially when the request was made by an engaged editor. Nocturnalnow (talk) 19:42, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
- The vandalism is clear; removal of sections that are fully sourced. If you don't like the section, find sources that rebuff the current one and write it in. That's how you can produce a balanced article. GedUK 11:08, 1 February 2018 (UTC)

Passing by to say hi
I had not seen your response on Dlohcierekim's wall, but now I see. (Im working on Commons and Wikibooks). Wanted to ask, am I worth the page mover right? i've a bunch of subpages in my userspace and will finish up some time later. Artix Kreiger (talk) 02:06, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Artix Kreiger: Hi there! I've had a glance over your contributions and they look OK to me. However, I don't do user rights very often, so I'm not 100% sure of the standard. The place to ask is Wikipedia:Requests for permissions/Page mover, looks like it's handled pretty quickly there, one way or the other. Good luck :) GedUK 08:43, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
White-breasted nuthatch
Hi, there was an edit conflict with White-breasted nuthatch. I undid my action - since you were first would you mind protecting it again?– Gilliam (talk) 15:41, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

CSD U1 Request
Hello Ged UK! Requesting you to please delete the following user redirect pages too. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 (reason- db-u1/u2) Thank you! Ivecos (t) 11:38, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Ivecos: Done I think. Cocked it up the first time and deleted both yours and Shivamsetu's, not noticing the redirects! Hopefully I've restored all of yours now. Let me know if I've missed any. CHeck the deletion log!. GedUK 12:00, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah! pages have been restored. Actually, I think I'm more at fault, I should have given URLs (with redirect=no) instead of giving wikilinks of redirects, for e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Doreen_Reinders&redirect=no which I only realized after shutting down the system! Sorry about that and thanks again. Ivecos (t) 14:24, 9 February 2018 (UTC)

I decided to enter that Arabic that was added to Juande Ramos page on google translator to see what it went to and this was the result! (Turki Sheikh Advisor and Chairman of the Board and the coach and president of the club and the head of war and playmaker and professional Plut and a member of the distinguished Twitter and Krendizer).
That's some weird shit for sure! Govvy (talk) 12:03, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
Corvette Grand Sport
I'm confused as to the deletion of the Corvette Grand Sport Collector Edition page.
There was discussion started as to why it had its own page. I put in that discussion that there was a bit of content so I thought it might be appropriate to not clutter the main Corvette C7 page with it. No one ever commented back on that so I thought it was good at that point, then I see the page is gone.
I'm happy to include that content in the main page, I think I implied that, but now the content has been deleted which makes me have to re-create it. I'm happy to add more content to the C7 page if that is the right thing to do, just looking for guidance there. I don't think it was promotional, if you have more info on that I'm happy to discuss. Just seems a little strange to just whack the page out without discussion.
Sorry, just seeing your message to that you tagged it for deletion, I'll contest through that channel as well, somewhat new to this wikipedia stuff :-) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kpauley (talk • contribs)
- Hi there. I see that you've contributed to the discussion on the talk page, so I'll leave it at that. GedUK 09:33, 27 February 2018 (UTC)
Which talk page are you referring to, the one on the C7 page? 'Cause that doesn't explain the deletion or anything like that. I've been bouncing around to a few pages trying to find out what is going on here, worst case I want to get the content back in someway that I wrote so I can mass insert it into the C7 page if that is where people think it should be. It is still relevant information about that model.

Since the last newsletter, the Editing Team has spent most of their time supporting the 2017 wikitext editor mode, which is available inside the visual editor as a Beta Feature, and improving the visual diff tool. Their work board is available in Phabricator. You can find links to the work finished each week at mw:VisualEditor/Weekly triage meetings. Their current priorities are fixing bugs, supporting the 2017 wikitext editor, and improving the visual diff tool.
Recent changes
- The 2017 wikitext editor is available as a Beta Feature on desktop devices. It has the same toolbar as the visual editor and can use the citoid service and other modern tools. The team have been comparing the performance of different editing environments. They have studied how long it takes to open the page and start typing. The study uses data for more than one million edits during December and January. Some changes have been made to improve the speed of the 2017 wikitext editor and the visual editor. Recently, the 2017 wikitext editor opened fastest for most edits, and the 2010 WikiEditor was fastest for some edits. More information will be posted at mw:Contributors/Projects/Editing performance.
- The visual diff tool was developed for the visual editor. It is now available to all users of the visual editor and the 2017 wikitext editor. When you review your changes, you can toggle between wikitext and visual diffs. You can also enable the new Beta Feature for "Visual diffs". The Beta Feature lets you use the visual diff tool to view other people's edits on page histories and Special:RecentChanges. [1]
- Wikitext syntax highlighting is available as a Beta Feature for both the 2017 wikitext editor and the 2010 wikitext editor. [2]
- The citoid service automatically translates URLs, DOIs, ISBNs, and PubMed id numbers into wikitext citation templates. This tool has been used at the English Wikipedia for a long time. It is very popular and useful to editors, although it can be tricky for admins to set up. Other wikis can have this service, too. Please read the instructions. You can ask the team to help you enable citoid at your wiki.
Let's work together
- The team is planning a presentation about editing tools for an upcoming Wikimedia Foundation metrics and activities meeting.
- Wikibooks, Wikiversity, and other communities may have the visual editor made available by default to contributors. If your community wants this, then please contact Dan Garry.
- The
<references />
block can automatically display long lists of references in columns on wide screens. This makes footnotes easier to read. This has already been enabled at the English Wikipedia. If you want columns for a long list of footnotes on this wiki, you can use either<references />
or the plain (no parameters){{reflist}}
template. If you edit a different wiki, you can request multi-column support for your wiki. [3] - If you aren't reading this in your preferred language, then please help us with translations! Subscribe to the Translators mailing list or contact us directly. We will notify you when the next issue is ready for translation. Thank you!
