Deletion sorting tools

Hi! I noticed you do quite a bit of deletion sorting. I was wondering if you'd be interested in trying out this deletion sorting tool I wrote. I made it because I got interested in delsorting a while back, installed WP:FWDS, clicked "More ▼", and was horrified at the resulting chaos. If you have any suggestions, feel free to tell me! APerson (talk!) 17:47, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Sorry if I'm bugging you, but I noticed you were on (and using FWDS again) and I was wondering if you had any suggestions that would help bring the delsort tool closer to the usefulness of FWDS. APerson (talk!) 03:50, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Public holidays in Saint Lucia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Corpus Christi. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A barnstar for you!

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
I have no idea how you keep up the enthusiasm to sort deletions, but you do. Fiddle Faddle 20:38, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

I believe that you might be handling the AfD for the above nominated article. I've been trying to edit the article to meet the concerns of those participating in the discussion, but the consensus seems to headed toward the deletion of the article. Am I just spinning my wheels in trying to improve it? There is also some underlying problems between two editors who have been banned commenting. One is the creator of the article. Is it possible that some of the comments and 'votes' for deletion could be influenced by this situation? I don't want to waste anymore of my time to rescue an article that has no chance of being retained despite my best efforts. Would you be able to tell me if I'm wasting my time?

Hello Gene93k, I noticed your 400,000+ contrib count, 30,000+ contribs to the mainspace, and your activity on AfD, especially with sorting deletion discussions. Have you considered to make a request to be an administrator? I can nominate you if you wish. Racer-Ωmegα 22:39, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Original Barnstar
You do an astonishing work on sorting AfD discussions, which are tedious and repetitive by the way. None can I find without your sorts! Hope you continue the great work. Best Regards. JAaron95 Talk 13:21, 13 August 2015 (UTC)

MFD

Hi Gene93k, You recently closed this MFD as Speedy Delete - Subtropical Man's taken it upon himself to basically amend the entire thing [1] whereas I clearly disagree [2] so instead of us reverting back & fourth over it I wanted to know whether his edits were fine or not, I'm inclined to believe the Speedy was a result as of the discussion but obviously he disagrees, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 14:52, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

Your edit is incorrect. The rest of the explanation is here. I correct/explained information but if there are doubts, your whole edit will be reverted and we will wait for officially closed of discussion by administrator, so. Subtropical-man talk

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miss Earth 2016

I have reverted an edit on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miss Earth 2016 in which an IP changed your vote. I did not hammer or warn the IP due to a Twinkle hiccup so you can review Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miss Earth 2016 the edit] yourself and act upon it. Editor of the Week

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week for your long-term efforts to help new editors. Thank you for the great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

Editor Esquivalience submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

I nominate User Gene93k to be Editor of the Week for seven years of continuous deletion sorting at AfD. Deletion sorting is what powers WikiProject deletion alerts, therefore attracting more participation at AfD. Deletion sorting is underappreciated; however it attracts more attention and helps achieve consensus quicker. Gene93k has contributed exemplarily to this area: he has done ~145,000 deletion sorts. To put that in perspective, assuming 60 AfDs per day over seven years (totaling ~150,000 AfDs) and two sorting categories (the average), he has done nearly half of all deletion sorts! It takes true dedication to sort 75,000 AfDs over seven years (about 11,000 per year), and Gene93k has that dedication. This award was supported by User:MelanieN, User:John from Idegon, User:Yash!, User:RightCowLeftCoast, User:Jim Carter, and User:L235.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

  • Congratulations on being named Editor of the Week! I supported your nomination and in fact I was planning to nominate you myself. Your hard work at AfD for many years deserves our recognition and thanks. --MelanieN (talk) 15:56, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
  • Congrats, Gene! You indeed deserve this recognition. Day in and day out you have been working hard sorting AfDs for years. I always wonder what is the secret which keeps you away from being bored. I can hardly do a thing constantly without getting distracted. Hats off to you. Like Melanie, I myself also have planned to nominate you for EotW. Keep up the good work! Jim Carter 16:52, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
  • Congrats on the award, and thanks for your contributions! L235 (t / c / ping in reply) 18:51, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
  • Congrats, Gene. Altho, I took an adoption course when I started here, I've pretty much taught myself about notability by participating at AfD. It seems at times that you are the only one doing delsort. Thanks. I'm glad to see your hard work recognized. John from Idegon (talk) 04:23, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
  • Congrats, and thank you for tirelessly doing a thankless yet important task that mere mortals would pass off as boring and repetitive after five minutes. Keep up the [bot-like] work, and don't forget to take a Wikibreak if you're wikibonked from all that sorting! Esquivalience t 14:34, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
  • This is so well-deserved! Congratulations, Gene, for all of the work you do in the AfD area. It's invaluable! Liz Read! Talk! 16:05, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
  • Congratulations Gene93k. Thanks for all your tireless efforts! — Yash! (Y) 17:00, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
One of the benefits of facilitating the Eddy award is that I get to meet quality editors like you. Too many veteran editors spend too much time at the various drama-laden pages of Wikipedia. They rarely take the time to see the hard working editors that fly under the radar of contention and strife and they begin to look at WP as one argument after another. Editors like you are the heartbeat of Wikipedia. Thanks for all you do. Happy New Year. Buster Seven Talk 17:22, 27 December 2015 (UTC)
