[edit]If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:
- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
- Provide a new username.
To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.
Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can search to see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is still available.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text{{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}
at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. - Hello, I am not sure I understand why I can't be unblocked. The only actions I did were:
- 1. I found an article to edit so that I could start learning about Wikipedia. On that article I edited a typo, which was my company's name written wrong. My company is Goparity and it was written GoParity (with a capital P).
- 2. I also edited the external links section to add my company's official website in it.
- If both of these actions are considered advertising or promoting my company, than you can remove them. I didn't do these actions with that purpose, but to learn how to edit on Wikipedia. I apologized before.
- Now, I shouldn't have to change the username if it is the correct name of my company, a certified BCorp.
- Is it possible to appeal to an unblock without having to change the username? Thank you Goparity (talk) 13:08, 22 May 2024 (UTC)
- You did not review the links in the decline reason:
- You cannot use a company name as a Wikipedia account name. This is a violation of Wikipedia's non-negotiable username policy. Accounts are for individuals and the account name must reflect individual use.
- A company isn't entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources.
- We have no interest in what you want to say about your own company. This is an inherent conflict of interest and edits by you about it will be seen as promotional, which Wikipedia disallows.
- In short, you won't be unblocked if your intention is to edit about your company, at least in the short term. You may be unblocked if you both propose a new username and express an interest in editing topics that are unrelated to your conflict of interest. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:30, 22 May 2024 (UTC)

Changing your username is the first step, but it does not negate your conflict of interest regarding your desire to write about your own company. Administrators will want to see a commitment from you, at least in the short term, to limit your editing to topics unrelated to your conflict of interest. In time, you may be permitted to create a draft article about the company for review. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:41, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the message explaining everything in detail. Nonetheless, how would it be possible to create an informative page about a company, which in this case is a company I happen to work at? Because I can't see another option to have a wikipedia page about Goparity unless a complete stranger suddenly decides to create one? My aim with a Goparity wikipedia page is to only have informative information about what the company is, does and history/timeline background. Goparity (talk) 16:06, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
- I think you're fundamentally missing the problem here. You don't do these things. This is an encyclopedia; spreading information about what your company does and its history, timeline, and background is for advertising, or social media, or your company's website. Wikipedia is none of these things.
- Microsoft has a Wikipedia article not because Bill Gates or one of his employees created it, but because "complete strangers" collaborated extensively to write an article about Microsoft based on its significant coverage in third-party, independent sources that the community agreed by consensus were reliable. We don't care what Bill Gates or Microsoft employees have to say about Microsoft, unless their opinions of themselves are so newsworthy those also have their own significant coverage in third-party, independent sources. - Thank you very much for the enlightement. I will drop my participation on Wikipedia, as I completely missunderstood the purpose. Have a great day! Goparity (talk) 08:19, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
