Hi Patrick, the boilerplate message below has some useful information and links to policies etc, so I'll leave it for you even though we've already discussed most of it. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:57, 22 August 2011 (UTC) (I'm Harry Mitchell, the Volunteer Response Team member you've been dealing with.)[reply]

Hello, PKdundee, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I notice that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been reverted for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of deletion, you might like to draft your article before submission, then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. To start creating a draft article, just click your user name at the top of the screen when you are logged in, and edit that page as you would any other. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

The one firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. It is also worth noting that Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which specifically link them to one company or corporation. If your username does have such a name, it would be advisable for you to request a change of username.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! You can also just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:57, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion about the Padraig Harrington ad

[edit]

Patrick, could you possibly share your thoughts here? Thanks, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:01, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 21:42, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

August 2011

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. However, please know that editors do not own articles and should respect the work of their fellow contributors on Optical Express. If you create or edit an article, know that others are free to change its content. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. TeapotgeorgeTalk 09:05, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the recent edits from passing NPOV editors are helpful and constructive, but editors who are hanging around the page, including yourself, are not being constructive. Collectively like a swarm of locus, you are being destructive and were responsible for, and would no doubt like to see a return of, the previous edit of the article which was described by a UK Wiki resolution admin as a "pile of shit." Please! PKdundee (talk) 11:48, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. Continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Optical Express, without resolving the problem that the template refers to may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Simple Bob a.k.a. The Spaminator (Talk) 15:19, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

These tags are superfluous in the meaning of excessive. Citate that an ad was aired on TV from a specific date? How is that possible? Really! PKdundee (talk) 11:48, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've just reverted your latest edits, as they included malformed references, advertising-like listings, and a bit of fluff about sending some volunteers to do emergency aid. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:03, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, the opening statement on the article is factually wrong. The other opticians do not provide laser eye surgery. You just changed it back without thinking or reading. The referenced were malformed how? And the sending of staff for voluntary aid is in what capacity any more or less important than a misinformed fly-tipping report that was rubbished (excuse the pun!)PKdundee (talk) 17:16, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The reference you provided absolutely does not back your claim that other opticians do not provide laser eye surgery - all it says is (as of a year ago) Optical Express started offering it. Nothing more, or less. Please stop edit-warring over this. MikeWazowski (talk) 17:37, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you wish to link to a Wikipedia article on, say, "haggis", you simply type [[haggis]]; there is no need to type [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/Haggis]. --Orange Mike | Talk 17:47, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to template you, but you're treading on thin ice here

[edit]

You, with your conflict of interest, are the last person who should be removing sourced information just because you don't like the way it makes your boss look. You had the right idea: persuade the other editors that this is inappropriate, and one of us will remove it. If you won't listen to me, listen to HJ Mitchell, one of our soundest editors and one who has gone way out of his way to be more than fair to you. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:19, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

He's right, Pat. I happen to agree with you, but you have to realise how it looks for somebody who works for the company to be removing negative material. Bring it up on the talk page, and make your case. You might have better luck asking for it to be trimmed so as not to give it undue weight (which is covered in the neutrality policy) than having removed altogether. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 01:27, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry guys. Mike you are right HJ is a great guy (and is your best -not one of) and if not for him I would not have been able to even try and get my points across - I understand and appreciate how far out of his way, and against majority opinion, he has gone to help me. I also understand he has lost some goodwill of his own in defending me.
But let's be clear, this is not personal, it is about a barrage of co-ordinated and negative postings that collectively sets out to damage the reputation of OE.
I would say, and hopefully you and the others don't take this the wrong way Mike, my respect of Wiki is mainly down to HJ. I must also mention FailedWizard, who possibly without the info that HJ has, has responded differently to my angst than any other editor and has given me the respect of assuming good faith. I feel I can talk to HJ and FailedWizard and I respect their decisions are made in good faith and without bias.
When the dust settles - soon hopefully, and everyone stands down a bit, I am sure the truth will out itself.
I pledge not to remove any further information, and will request content removal on the OE talk page for others to decide on.

Warning re Optical Express

[edit]

If you continue to make comments about other editors rather than improving the article you will be blocked from editing, you may not get another warning. MilborneOne (talk) 19:46, 12 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Optical Express COIN/Edit War Resolution

[edit]

Please note that I have seen the RFC and COI requests for this article. I have proposed a resolution process that should work well for this article. Please see Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest/Noticeboard#User:Golfbravoecho. I appreciate your involvement in making Wikipedia more accurate and appreciate your assistance in this process.
