Speedy deletion nomination of Category:2019 in the Philippines
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:2019 in the Philippines requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Bias on certain topics, again?
[edit]I have noticed that the page related to the Bureau of Customs has no mention of its high level of corruption, and the recent drug smuggling scandal is isn't mentioned either. Even the page of its current chairman, Nicanor Faeldon has no mention of his involvement in the drug smuggling scandal, and is almost unupdated. An article (2017 Bureau of Customs drug smuggling scandal) about the scandal can be created, since it progressed.
But even the page about Imee Marcos has no mention of the controversy involving her case of misappropriation of tobacco excise tax, and the "Ilocos 6". There are too much bias on certain topics in the Philippines, like corruption. If possible, please work on these topics if possible. I am tired already of many Filipino editors having a strong bias against certain topics, like corruption in the government, that many articles of persons or government agencies, have no mention of involvement in corrupt practices, because one is not willing to edit them, or someone is trying to whitewash those details. Pagod na pagod na ako sa mga editor na may bias kontra sa ilang topic or paksa dito.TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 08:03, 12 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Hariboneagle927: Please read this, and reply.-TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 05:17, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- You got to recognize that there not all users have experience in writing politics related articles like corruption scandals which unfortunately for this country drags on for years. It would be not assuming good faith to tag users as biased when they choose not to edit much on these kind of topics. But I agree that its worrying that some users let their own biases that they actively whitewash articles whether its Duterte's camp, the opposition, etc. Regarding government agencies, many reads like government profile pages like how LGU articles reads like tourism brochure or Corporation pages as company profiles. I will work on this pages more especially on government agencies.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 05:31, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- Thank for the effort to work this out. The recent BOC scandal is a part of the ongoing war on drugs (resulting from smuggling of drugs by bypassing customs checks), and why not create a page dedicated for it, when possible? This is a heated issue, but have not been given attention, unlike the recent violent raid in Ozamiz, where the city's mayor, Reynaldo Parojinog, Sr., is killed
- And for regarding the Imee Marcos article, there is no one willingly trying to either those. Even the topic about the Marcoses are heavily biased, that there are someone trying to manipulate or whitewash controversies the family is involved. But it is not just those of the Marcoses that has pages that heavily need much attention. There are many controversial politicians that have their pages problematic, biased, and/or whitewashed of controversies, if not outdated.
- And for working on articles of government agencies, thanks to give efforts to improve these. But, be aware that there would be those COI editors (IPs or registered users) that may whitewash controversies (that it may even causes unwanted media attention), or make those pages resemble their own Web pages. This is really troublesome, but if you want to make their pages neutral, good.-TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 06:48, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Hariboneagle927: Why not create the 2017 Bureau of Customs drug smuggling scandal article? The controversy is already heated, and even the President's son, Paolo, has been alleged to be involved in the scandal, but, why not create that one for that scandal?-TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 02:51, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Hariboneagle927: And don't forget the Bureau of Customs article, and articles of those involved, like its current commissioner, Nicanor Faeldon (but only when adding their involvement will not constitute undue weight). I already tagged it for cleanup and update, and added a "Corruption and controversies" issue (though it has a see also only to the 2017 Bureau of Customs drug smuggling scandal).-TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 17:08, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, I'll keep that in mind. As I myself gradually gets to know more about the issue so I can write about it more effectively.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 17:10, 17 August 2017 (UTC)

Death of Kian delos Santos
[edit]@Hariboneagle927: I know that the death of the 16-year old Kian delos Santos on an anti-drug operation in Caloocan has received great condemnation, and the Senate is calling a probe related to the case. But, does this case of police atrocities on the War on Drugs stand out to be discussed here on an article, or if not, it may have only a mention on a section of the Philippine Drug War article? Given the reason above, this seems notable enough, but have to be checked. TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 12:39, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
- Jollibinay beat me to it, and created an article about this incident - Shooting of Kian Loyd delos Santos. Nevertheless I will watch and contribute to this article. It's notable imho for its great implications to the drug war.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 04:37, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
- There are being a AfD for the Kian delos Reyes shooting. I am aware that the implications of this controversial death of that minor may turn the tide of the ongoing drug war, especially regarding the cases of police atrocities on anti-drug operations, aside from the cases of extrajudicial killings. I will also comment on the AfD, and I agree with you. You may edit the Philippine Drug War article especially in relation to the police atrocities that occured in the drug war, like multiple deaths in large-scale antidrug operations, the controversial deaths of Rolando Espinosa, Jee Ick-joo, Reynaldo Parojinog, Sr., and Kian delos Santos, and other related controversies asido from EJKs and those mentioned. -TagaSanPedroAko (talk) 07:40, 20 August 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, I'm aware of the Afd. It's too early to dismiss the article as one of those sensationalist local crimes. It is a local crime in a city but it's had serious nationwide implication beyond "shock value" for the lack of better words like those annual New Year's Eve related deaths, carnapping incidents or tabloid rape reports.Hariboneagle927 (talk) 07:45, 20 August 2017 (UTC)

Just as an FYI, I sent this back to draft because the promotion had been by a previously blocked sockfarm. If you think it should be in mainspace, please promote it (or ping me to deal with the AFCHS if you don't have it). I noticed you had made a few tweaks, but they didn't seem like major additions, so I felt rolling back the promotion to mainspace would be okay. I did want to give you a heads up though, and have no problem with you undoing my revert if you think it the best move. TonyBallioni (talk) 15:43, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
