Ralph Fiennes[edit]

Hi Hc5duke. "Rafe" is a traditional British pronunciation of "Ralph"- see Ralph (name), and this quote from Mr Fiennes himself: "It's 'Rafe', actually." - Gobeirne 19:40, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Didn't see that in talk before, thanks for the note.

April 2008[edit]

Information.svg Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently copied the contents of a page and pasted it into another with a different name. This is what we call a "cut and paste move", and it is very undesirable because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. The mechanism we use for renaming an article is to move it to a new name which both preserves the page's history and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. In most cases, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself by this process, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves to request the move by another. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.

In the move of the Grant Hill disambiguation page, probably the best thing to do was move the disambiguation page, then place a {{db-move}} tag on the redirect created by the move, so the Grant Hill (basketball) page could be moved. Also, because the disambiguation page only has two entries, the disambiguation hatnote on the article about the basketball player could point directly to the other article. --Snigbrook (talk) 14:21, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

What does "지연" (Ji Yeon) mean in English? I was wondering because it is the title of a Lost episode (called "Ji Yeon"). Thank you! moocowsruletalk to moo 02:04, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

Alternate pronunciation of hectare[edit]

Hi Hc5duke,

I have reverted your edit to hectare for several reasons. I am not convinced that the alternate is common or even well known. If you want to make a reasonably controversial edit such as this, you know the drill, provide references to verifiable, reputable sources. I know that you have dropped a URL in the edit summary; a proper cite is in order here. The critical thing, though, is that you should provide, if possible, more than just one source and for example the Oxford dictionary knows of only one pronunciation and that is /hektair/. Please continue on the article talk page if you wish. Bleakcomb (talk) 02:37, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Randall Masteller[edit]

Ambox warning pn.svg

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Randall Masteller requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies.

File:Tapjoy logo.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

Please see the discussion to see why it has been listed (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry). Feel free to add your opinion on the matter below the nomination. Proposed deletion of Tapjoy[edit]

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Tapjoy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ArbCom elections are now open![edit]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
