linking articles from es.wiki with the ones on en.wiki

[edit]

I need to link the Stanley Lord article in English with the one in Spanish. I have tried adding the link in the "add links" (language) section but I get an error message saying that there is a resource conflict. Can anyone advise me how to solve this?

Hidehicampers (talk) 03:11, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, it seems to be working for me now. Perhaps try it again; it may have been a temporary error. In any event, the general way to do this is like that: just click on that "edit links" in the languages sidebar, and that'll take you here; then just add the language you're linking to (es, in this case; the dropdown should automatically populate the language and code for you), then add the name of the page you'd link to (in this case, Stanley Lord (marino)), and click "save", and that should do it. Let me know if it's still not working for you; I can do it for you if you like. Thanks! Writ Keeper  08:33, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

still having this linking problem

[edit]

Many thanks Writ Keeper - I followed the steps as given but I get the following message when I click on "Save":

An error occurred while trying to perform save and because of this, your changes could not be completed.

Details

Site link Stanley Lord (marino) is already used by item Q6133732. Perhaps the items should be merged and one of them deleted? Request deletion of one of the items at Wikidata:Requests for deletion, or ask at Wikidata:Interwiki conflicts if you believe that they should not be merged::::

Any suggestions?

Sorry to be a bother about this! Hidehicampers (talk) 15:10, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

For some reason the Spanish version was linked to a different Wikidata entry. I went to Wikdata and removed it. After that I linked the Spanish to the rest of them at the Spanish Wikipedia (I think that is what I did since I don't speak Spanish). It should be fixed now. --kelapstick(bainuu) 15:34, 17 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK Kelapstick - thanks very much....I´ll have a look....fingers crossed! Hidehicampers (talk) 20:48, 20 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Question for administrator

[edit]

{{admin help}} I´ve got an open proxy block which apparently just popped into existence even though I´ve been editing wiki articles from the same IP for a long time - I have not changed my IP settings. Can anyone unblock the IP or resolve the issue for me? Thanks in advance...

No crystal ball - no idea of your IP address!  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:20, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry! 190.233.50.127

Hidehicampers (talk) 02:42, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The block on this IP expired only a couple hours ago, so you should be able to edit now. Likely, your IP recently switched to the one that had a confirmed proxy on it. Feel free to re-add the help request if you still cannot edit. Good luck! Reaper Eternal (talk) 13:50, 30 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove sourced information from the List of most popular given names article. Bookworm857158367 (talk) 22:37, 12 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - the label is inaccurate, as collated data from England and Wales cannot then be pooled into separate ( England ) and ( Wales ) data sets as if the distribution were equal; it is not. The most popular names in Wales are certainly not the same as the most popular in England; hence there should not be a separate "England" and "Wales" set of entries in the table - there should only be "England and Wales". It is statistically wrong to try to separate the data set into two apparently equally-weighted sets. At any rate, I´m not going to make a big issue of it, but the point remains that it is incorrect.Hidehicampers (talk) 15:11, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
