Edit summaries and sources
[edit]Thank you for your correction to the misinformation in India de Beaufort. Unfortunately at first I thought you were vandalising the article, and I reverted your edits back to the false version. Fortunately I checked further, realised my mistake, and restored your edits. However, I thought for future use it might be helpful to mention two things you could have done which would have helped to avoid this problem.
- When you are editing a Wikipedia article there is normally a small edit box underneath the main editing space labeled "Edit summary". It is helpful if in there you type a few words briefly saying what your edit is doing.
- Whenever possible give a reference to a published source (printed or online) which confirms what you are writing. There is a great deal of information on how to do this at Wikipedia:Citing sources, and if you really want to do it well you should read that sometime, but for now it is quite good enough to know that after a statement you have made you can write either <ref>the title, author, etc of a book which confirms the statement</ref>, or else <ref>the url of a reliable web page which confirms the statement</ref>. I hope this is of some help to you. Happy editing. JamesBWatson (talk) 22:25, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page India de Beaufort has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.myspace.com/newbones/ (matching the regex rule \bmyspace\.com).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 22:31, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
- For clarification, the point here is that links to social networking sites, such as MySpace, are not normally considered acceptable. There is a list of links normally to be avoided. JamesBWatson (talk) 22:35, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
