Your draft article, User:Hollist/sandbox

[edit]

Hello Hollist. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "sandbox".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|User:Hollist/sandbox}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Hasteur (talk) 16:47, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Conflict of Interest

[edit]

Hallo, I notice that you have been adding references, quotations, and mentions of Hollis Taylor to multiple articles such as Birds in music, Bird, and Bird vocalization. Your username makes it appear that you may be this person or a close associate. As an experienced editor you will be aware that Wikipedia takes Conflict of Interest extremely seriously. While citing oneself is not absolutely forbidden, it inevitably makes it likely that editors will be torn between their responsibilities to the encyclopedia and their concerns in the world outside.

Please refresh your memory of Wikipedia's policy on this matter, and take great care to err on the side of caution rather than what may look to others like self-promotion. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 06:17, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Material you included in the above article appears to have been copied from the copyright web page http://www.jmro.org.au/index.php/mca2/article/download/43/21. Copying text directly from a source is a copyright violation. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, the content had to be removed. Please leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions or if you think I made a mistake. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:06, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jon Rose draft

[edit]

I looked over the text you paraphrased and everything looks ok. All we need to do now is to have you modify the draft text so that it includes the references using Wiki markup. I went ahead and did this for you in the first paragraph, which is labeled "the lede". This can be found in the same place under "extended content" on the Jon Rose talk page. If you're able to finish the rest of the draft's paragraphs, making sure to include the references just how they're included in the first paragraph, then we can work on moving it into the article. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. Thank you! Spintendo      10:58, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • The following texts need to be re-written because they are insufficiently paraphrased from Rose's own website. The text as it appears in the draft version is on the left; the text as it appears in the biography section of Rose's website is on the right. As my colleague Diannaa mentioned above back in July 2017, we cannot have the article using copied texts. These sections need to be re-written before the draft can be moved into mainspace. He gave up formal music education at the age of 15 and from then on, was mostly self-taught.
Throughout the 1970s, first in England and then in Australia, Rose studied, played, and composed in a variety of genres including Italian club bands, country & western, bebop, and new music. Throughout the 1970's, first in England then in Australia, he played, composed and studied in a large variety of music genres - from sitar playing to country & western; from 'new music' composition to commercial studio session work; from Bebop to Italian club bands; from Big Band serial composition to Sound Installations.
Jon Rose became a figure in the development of free improvisation in Australia in the mid-1970s, where he explored different violin tunings and musical temperament through his use of electronics (both analog and interactive digital). Rose's improvisational work informed his instrument building. Rose has performed his work either solo or with fellow improvisers[a] He became the central figure in the development of Free Improvisation in Australia, performing in almost every Art Gallery, Jazz and Rock club in the country - either solo or with an international pool of improvising musicians called The Relative Band.

Notes

  1. ^ I have already re-written a portion of this text. The beginning and end portions still need to be paraphrased better.

GA nomination

[edit]

I have decided to put the Jon Rose article that I helped you put together as COI review editor last year up for nomination as a Wikipedia Good Article (GA). A GA is a special set of articles which meet a core set of editorial standards.

Articles selected for GA status are ones which are well written, contain factually accurate and verifiable information, and are broad in coverage, neutral in point of view, stable, and illustrated, where possible, by relevant images with suitable copyright licenses. GA's do not have to be as comprehensive as featured articles (FA), which is the highest recognition an article may receive in Wikipedia. I believe that the Jon Rose article counts as a GA, and should be recognized as such.

Any editor, preferably one who has contributed to it, may nominate an article for GA status. Once this occurs, another impartial editor will then review the article after selecting it from a queue of good article nominations and evaluating it against the good article criteria. If it is accepted by the reviewer, the nominated article is added to the list of good articles, and the article receives a GA Icon displayed in the upper right hand corner of the article.

In the past, I have participated in 6 successful GA nominations as either nominator or reviewer. In my experience the review process can take as little as 7 days or as long as a few months to complete. This is not counting the time that the article may spend waiting on the queue to be selected for review, which can take up to one year.

As I have begun this process as nominator, your participation is not required, although I would like to be able to message you here on your talk page should any questions arise during the review process. Please let me know if that would be acceptable to you. Thank you!  Spintendo  16:41, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review 02-NOV-2019

[edit]

The GA review was recently conducted for the Jon Rose article — unfortunately the article did not pass the review. Helpful suggestions were left by the reviewer; these may be found on the article's talk page.

Please feel free, if interested, to address any of the issues mentioned in the review, in particular, the questions raised regarding Rose's work. These could be best addressed by you. The other issues raised in the review regarding the article's formatting are for me to correct, and ought not to be your concern.

Please note that as a COI editor, any changes that you may offer in response to the GA review should be proposed on the talk page using the {{request edit}} template. If these are offered, they should be done so outside of the review section (meaning placed in their own posted section of the talk page).

Thank you in advance for any help that you're willing to provide. It's much appreciated. Regards,  Spintendo  08:18, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
