Welcome

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. To find out how to make useful contributions, take a look at the welcome page. To stay in Wikipedia, an article has to be about something notable, that is, of general interest. Click on Notability for an explanation of what that means, and on Notability (people) for more detail. Also, it must give independently verifiable sources. Articles that don't meet these requirements are likely to be deleted. Follow the links below to learn more:

Proposed deletion of Ferial Masry

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ferial Masry, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? JohnCD (talk) 16:29, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the heads up. I responded on the Masry page with my thoughts. Let me know what you think. Hood4546 (talk) 18:32, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • What happens now is that any editor who is interested can add their views which may include a recommendation to delete or keep. After five days an administrator looks at the arguments advanced (not the number of votes, it isn't a vote) and deletes the article only if he thinks there is a consensus to do that. The default, if there is no consensus, is to keep. The rule about candidates not being notable is there to avoid Wikipedia getting turned into an election hoarding for every election, but I agree this candidate has something more going for her than most, and I shall not be unhappy if the result is "keep", as seems likely. What would help is any references you can find which are due to anything other than her candidacy or her book. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:55, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
