F1 deletion

Two issues:

  1. Files are not eligible for WP:CSD#F1 if they are on Commons; that is F8.
  2. Files are not eligible for either F1 or F8 unless they identical in every way (or a scaled down version of such).

As such, would you please consider undeleting this file? As I remarked when I turned it down originally, the proper venue is WP:FFD, where there can be a discussion on the merits of one versus the other. Magog the Ogre (talk) 21:35, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

I've restored it. FWIW, this appears to be nothing more than process-wankery, and it's one of the reasons why so many administrators stay away from anything that deals with images. The only difference between the two files is that one is a much smaller .svg image in commons, and the other is a larger (file size), lower-resolution image here on en.wp. I've restored the file, but I'm not going to do anything else, and this has served as a reminder why I don't deal with images. Obviously, I had forgotten the hassle when I wandered in to Category:Candidates for speedy deletion earlier today, and saw an easily resolved issue, where an orphaned image whose meaning was conveyed by another, smaller (in KB) file. Right. And this other one turned out to have the wrong number of electoral votes. Are you done complaining yet? Magog the Ogre (talk) 05:02, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Your input is requested

As a neutral, previously uninvolved party who frequently contributes at WP:RSN, your input is respectfully requested here. Phoenix and Winslow (talk) 13:32, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

DRV

A notification that the Templates for Discussion discussion (oy, repetition) has been taken to a deletion review discussion. The Article Rescue Squadron was notified, and as notifications to previous involved parties isn't normal practise, I and a few ARS members agreed that, in the interests of transparency and fairness, we should let everyone know...hence this talkpage message ;).

If anyone has an issue with me sending these out, do drop me a note on my talkpage. Regards, Ironholds (talk) 10:25, 28 January 2012 (UTC)
