User talk:IALTO
April 2010
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, Gustavus Adolphus College Archives, may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because accounts are registered to individuals, not organizations or groups. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may file for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account and use that for editing. Thank you. P. D. Cook Talk to me! 19:54, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm not sure how to leave a note so I'll go with this message. While the user name is an organization name - I am the only person in this part of the organization. Thus, I see it as being me, but if that isn't good enough, I can change it. However, I'd ask if you could explain how that change is done. GAC Archivist (talk) 21:04, 25 April 2010 (UTC)
- Per the username policy, the use of names of groups is not permitted, even if only one person is using the account. To change your name, go to this page, and the instructions should tell you how to get it changed. If you have any other questions, you can ask on my talk page. Regards, P. D. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account. You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page. - At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
- Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
