Hello IRISHNEWSHOUNDS. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:IRISHNEWSHOUNDS. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=IRISHNEWSHOUNDS|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 331dot (talk) 10:52, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 331dot, we have no connection to this page either financial or have a conflict of interest. I'm a journalist for a local paper and am just getting into wiki. IRISHNEWSHOUNDS (talk) 10:55, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
By "we" do you mean the other account that is editing the draft?
That other account uploaded an image of the person you are writing about and claimed that they took the image. That's a clear connection. 331dot (talk) 11:21, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No sorry we as in the "royal we". But I am going to go through this whole draft myself, correct all the citations and all the advice you've given IRISHNEWSHOUNDS (talk) 11:24, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So you have nothing to do with the "INDUSTRYDESIGN" account? 331dot (talk) 11:25, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you are employed as a journalist, that could still be paid editing. How did you come to edit about this topic? 331dot (talk) 11:23, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi i'm a massive DJ and rave enthusiast going back 30 years and was got chatting on a forum and was told this was started so I want to edit and re-write it all and more broadly get into Wikipedia doing music bios. IRISHNEWSHOUNDS (talk) 11:26, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So the user of the INDUSTRYDESIGN account told you about it? 331dot (talk) 12:10, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have taken this bio over now and i am working on a bunch of other music bios that i have not uploaded yet.I am going to work on a full edit of this one with allowable citations from "allowable" sources.
So will take me a few weeks to get back to this to complete it so it's going to remain in draft for some time. Thanks for all your help on this. IRISHNEWSHOUNDS (talk) 12:14, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, i've also been though a lot of our similar music artists and they all seem to use these types of source, such as this artist Yotto so thanks for the feedback its been very useful but just wonder how so many music artists are getting through review to go live with jsut citations form music platforms and interviews. IRISHNEWSHOUNDS (talk) 12:21, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That other articles exist does not mean that they are "getting through" and being approved by anyone. As this is a volunteer project where people do what they can when they can, it is possible for inappropriate content to exist, even for years. We can only deal with what we know about.
I'll give you one last chance to describe your connection with the other account. 331dot (talk) 12:23, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok al noted .Ah yes sorry that was one of my close friends we were going to work on these together but he has decided he doesnt have time, so i took over on my own. IRISHNEWSHOUNDS (talk) 12:26, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

October 2023[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.
331dot (talk) 12:32, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your story keeps changing based on my responses to you. Even if some version of what you are telling me is accurate, the other account is a company name which says on its website that Dbreathe is their client. See WP:MEAT. 331dot (talk) 12:33, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry didn't mean to give any false impression. I certainly have no connection personally nor have I any financial gain from this. But if that's the decision then not a lot I can do about it and i suspect i have a lot to learn on submitting and editing on Wikipedia. Regardless thanks for the advice on all of this. Definitely a massive learning curve. Thanks anyway. IRISHNEWSHOUNDS (talk) 12:37, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You created your account three minutes after the other account's last post. I do not believe that you have no connection.
You are, of course, free to stop using your account. But the block is on you personally, not just your account- you are not permitted to edit under any account or IP until the block is removed. If other accounts attempt to edit about this person, those accounts will be blocked too. 331dot (talk) 12:39, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We started on this at the same time of course, but not to worry and all noted and understood. I will do some reading up on all of this of course. IRISHNEWSHOUNDS (talk) 12:41, 16 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
