Hello,
The text was originally made by a person who created the text without account (anonymously). Though I know this person, he's known as one of the best KAR: City Trial competitive players in the whole scene and wanted the page to have information about the community making possible online netplay with tournaments. I was informed when he did that as I am also a top competitive player myself and decided to contribute a little as well. So you're false about the assumption that my account is a smurf account.
Now you may see the text as promotion and I agree, though that's only true because the information was more about the community rather than the scene. There were more problems with the text, like the positioning and the title ('player base' should be 'competition' or something, and it should be positioned somewhere below). That can easily be fixed. Regarding the text, I want the page to at least have something that tells the reader that the game has a competitive scene since a few years. I thought that that's pretty relevant, similar to how other games have such scenes. There were 4 tourneys and 1 of them had a 500$ price pool and 2 of them had a 100$ prize pool, and 1 had only 20$. 3 tourneys were streamed as well with commentary. So yeah there is a scene now, although it's netplay and not being held locally.
So instead of deleting all the text we type, you could also discuss the problems the text has and how to make it better, or helping to make it better by adjusting the text like I did. The reason we wanted to put the text there, is because we like to see the competitive scene grow, and people reading that the tourneys has been held for the game, does help, since that may lead to more people organizing new tournaments. It has nothing to do with the community, we aren't staff of the community, just some Kirby Air Ride City Trial (netplay 1v1s) tournament players. InFury Z. (talk) 21:24, 12 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
