List of Garfield characters

[edit]

Hi. Welcome to Wikipedia, and thanks for working to improve the site with your edit to List of Garfield characters, as we really appreciate your participation. However, the edit had to be reverted, because Wikipedia cannot accept uncited material. Wikipedia requires that the material in its articles be accompanied by reliable, verifiable (usually secondary) sources explicitly cited in the article text in the form of an inline citation, which you can learn to make here. If you ever have any other questions about editing, or need help regarding the site's policies, just let me know by leaving a message for me in a new section at the bottom of my talk page. Thanks. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Indie Meme/sandbox, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. SpencerT•C 05:47, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm new to Wikipedia, and I've been hired by Indie Meme to write a Wikipedia page about them, so not sure how to revoke the copyright infringement accusation, and if it's simply possible to continue citing their work in lieu of going through the process of a copyright approval. On the same token, I lack practice in implementing a "neutral" tone (which by Wikipedia standards, seems like the only tone applicable to writing a valid article). Since my Sandbox article has been deleted, and I've been blocked from the ability to edit, would it be possible to continue drafting my sandbox article, and possibly get help from you, or various other Wikipedia mods to maintain a neutral, non-promoting quality?
Thank you,

This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Requested username:

Request reason:

I will make sure to maintain a neutral tone in my articles, and request written approval from my employer to use their website as a valid source

Decline reason:

That's okay as a new username. You must comply with WP:PAID, this is a Terms of Use requirement. Your employer's website is a primary source and cannot be used to establish notability as defined by Wikipedia so you are putting the cart before the horse. Wikipedia is not interested in what they say about themselves, only in what independent reliable sources choose on their own to say about them. Since you only seem interested in editing about your employer in further violation of WP:COI, there are no grounds to remove the block. If you want to edit about other topics in the near term, please tell what. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 18:39, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
