Academy Awards[edit]

Please stop changing the years associated with Academy Award events. The 8th Academy Awards, for example, were held in March 1936 but recognized films released during 1935. General Ization Talk 16:00, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

In answer to your email, when other editors contact you to express concerns and/or warn you concerning your edits, you need to stop what you are doing and respond to them. See my first message to you above, which fully addresses the confusion you expressed in your email to me. It is identical to the message I left on the talk page of the IP you were using to make these same changes prior to your doing so on this account. General Ization Talk 19:22, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

... I think that it would make more sense to list the movies by the year they won the award that's all or make a note above that those are the movies' release date.

I understand your suggestion (sent to me by email), but this is only one of several dozen pages (each for a different family of awards) where this particular table format is used. The format was determined by discussion and consensus arrived at by many editors who regularly contribute to pages here concerning film and the Academy Awards. If I was to change the column headings here, it would only make this page's column headings different than every other page related to the Awards. (The other pages also follow the convention I described above, and from which your edits were causing this page to deviate.) General Ization Talk 19:51, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please note that the preferred method of talking with other editors here is for both editors to use one or the other of their user Talk pages (like this one), and/or the Talk page of the article being discussed (e.g., Talk:Academy Award for Best Picture). Some editors prefer not to receive email and may not reply to messages you send them by email (or have disabled the option that allows you to do so). Even while you are (currently, and temporarily) blocked from editing articles, you can edit your Talk page (this one). General Ization Talk 20:01, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
