Notification[edit]

This message contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

Please carefully read this information:

The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.

Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

In addition, as a result of a recent ruling, all anonymous IP editors and accounts with less than 500 edits and 30 days tenure are prohibited from editing any page that could be reasonably construed as being related to the Arab-Israeli conflict. Edwardx (talk) 14:49, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Arieh Miller[edit]

Hello JakobKahan,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Arieh Miller for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Hama Dryad (talk · contribs · email) 13:44, 17 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. When I checked the page, it was written slightly like a resume or an advertisement. That needs to be taken care of or else it may attract an administrator who may find that it does not meet inclusion standards. try to get some objective sources (LinkedIn is not considered a valid source, by the way) and make sure that the young man's significance and notability are stated as those are areas that can get new pages deleted quickly. If you are working on the page please use the
{{inuse}}
or
{{inprogress}}
templates to show that the article is still in progress. This will allow you to have some more time to rectify the issues. I will try to help you a bit if I can. Cheers! Hama Dryad (talk · contribs · email) 14:12, 17 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

March 2016[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm DuncanHill. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Daniel Taub without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; I have restored the removed content. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. July 2022[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Union of Jewish Students. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Kleuske (talk) 10:34, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

Introduction to contentious topics[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
