Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome!

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of City of Friends, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://cityoffriends.com/about/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on City of Friends requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://cityoffriends.com/about/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Information icon Hello, I'm HickoryOughtShirt?4. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Jean Beauvoir, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Hello, Jeanbeau, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia. Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who use multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Jeanbeau. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Jean Beauvoir, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:50, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Jean Beauvoir Wiki Page

[edit]

Dear Hickory,

Jean Beauvoir here. I hope you are well and thank you for your email. Firstly, I’m assuming that you are an admin for Wikipedia and want to thank you for your many contributions to an amazing platform and to my personal site. Yes, I do believe there has been a mistake and overall, I was recently made aware that my page was in need of updates, further verifiable details, clarifications and corrections.

As this is not my area of expertise, I informed my team to make the necessary revisions, thus the multiple accounts.

My team has been trying to make these changes and it appears for some reason there were some issues. I personally have an important mission of helping to keep punk alive in the new world and also celebrating the work that many of us (Ramones, Plasmatics, Debbie Harry) etc., have done in the past till today to bring attention and pay homage to something has been impactful in our pop culture. I have yet much work to do and it’s not easy.

I did see that there was a copyright complaint made some years ago by the Company “City Of Friends. To be honest, I’m not sure of the basis of this complaint as it was never detailed. I was indeed the US CEO of that company per contract, facilitated some milestones for them and actually spoke with the owner yesterday who was thanking me for that assistance (Netflix).. So I don’t believe that someone there should have right to complain without details for us to revise accordingly, if the facts of involvement are stated and verifiable.

For the remainder of my page, most of the content is really good, I thank you again, but we need to further detail some of the information, add content that was missing and make corrections to some incorrect info, such as Kim Jonghyun, who I did not work with... Rather “JongHyun”, from the group “SHINEE” a very important K-Pop artist who broke barriers by entering the Billboard Charts at #1, - the revision most recently made). (https://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/k-town/8070978/jonghyun-top-albums-songs-billboard-charts-shinee) then unfortunately killed himself at 27 years old. https://www.nautiljon.com/paroles/jong+hyun+%5Bshinee%5D/crazy+(guilty+pleasure)+(feat.+iron).html

In any case, I felt I wanted to write you a personal note asking that you please facilitate the needed changes. Advise us further of your guidelines and know that any content we are including is absolutely verifiable. I’ll further inform Myra to minimize the promotional approach, which I do know is not the Wiki approach, more so fact based. Thank you and I wish you wonderful Holidays! All the best, Jean Beauvoir Jeanbeau (talk) 03:48, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jeanbeau and thank you for this response. I want to first clear up that I am not an admin on Wikipedia, just a happy volunteer with experience. Secondly, I really recommend you read this page (Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Help) which discusses what to do if you are the person an article is written about. It is a very good guide on how to function within Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest. The first step would be disclosing your conflict of interest on your userpage (click on the red link of your username) and on the article's talk page. Please understand that you, or anyone you pay, does not own the page and edits like this won't be accepted just because they are your Executive Assistant. The key problems were that they were unsourced, unverifiable and promotional.

The problem with edits that are not verifiable is that we have no proof that it is correct. This is done for your saftey because anyone could make up anything (whether true or not) and we would have no proof if it was right or not. This is also called original research, where you know something to be true (or analyzed it so) but have no proof to back it up. That too, is not allowed.

Secondly, I too do not know the details for the copyright tag on "City Of Friends" but if the content was copied from any website and there was no proof that whoever copied it to Wikipedia owned it's rights, then it is a copyright infringement. You would need to read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials to learn how to prove you own it and want to donate it.

Moving on, I want to thank you for acknowledging the promotional tone of Myra's edits (and the subsequent IPs). This is counter-intuitive to Wikipedia's goal of maintaining a neutral point of view. While it is strongly recommended that those with a conflict of interest (hereinafter named COI) refrain from editing their own page, you can make edit requests on Talk:Jean Beauvoir (just read Wikipedia:Simple conflict of interest edit request). This would be the only successful way of adding information to the page that would make the Wikipedia community (those of us who are here to improve Wikipedia and do not have a single goal) comfortable with you continuing to edit it. Unless there is vandalism or edits that are misinformed (and you have a reference to back it up) please refrain from making edits like this which is all unsourced and have a promotional undertone. I have gone through the article and seemed to have removed promotional material and added references to contentious sentences. By the time the page is unblocked, Myra and anyone else connected to this article must have disclosed any financial relationship they have (per our Wikimedia Terms of Use) and agree to make edit requestes.

If you have further questions, do not be afraid to ask here, at the Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons/Noticeboard, or the WP:Helpdesk. As it is nearly midnight where I am, I do not know if I will be on any longer to help you so take advantage of these resources.

Happy holidays! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:28, 23 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jeanbeau. I thought we agreed that you would use Edit Requests on the talk page unless it is minor edits? By the way, adding references in your edit summary is okay but you need to cite them in the article as well. See WP:CITE. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:27, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ACDS Notice

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in living or recently deceased people, and edits relating to the subject (living or recently deceased) of such biographical articles. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Jean Beauvoir Wiki Site

[edit]

Hello Ad,

My name is Susanne Hultberg and I am writing to you as an editor on the Jeanbeau account.

I saw a message sent to you today by Hickory where you were given incorrect information. As of a few weeks ago, the Jean Beauvoir wiki page was targeted by this editor who removed over 50% of its content, which was all verifiable, factual information, in fact, much of the references information was sent to him directly, yet he removed it repeatedly irregardless.

Some weeks back, it came to our attention that the site had incorrect, defamatory information, including incorrect birth date, change of information regarding songwriting with a well known K-Pop Artist, JONGHYUN which the editor changes to Kim Jong Jhun (the dictator) with all details of the actual artist removed, as was provided to him and up till now, is still not present on the site. There was much more detail and updates necessary.

As I noticed you asked, there was nothing overtly promotional and the changes stated facts and referenced details as to various milestones or definitive occurrences in Mr. Beauvoir’s life.

Myra, a publicist and who works with Jean attempted to make an edit to make such corrections and to add some needed detail, all revisions were rejected by Hickory. She received rude messages such as “you don’t own the page”, we received messages from him accusing us of “name dropping” an other inappropriate messages. The editor sent direct messages to Mr. Beauvoir in what believe was an effort to engage him into conversation and basically took control of the site unsubstantiated.

The subject of this site is a well known accomplished artist, producer, songwriter and entertainment executive and obviously correct representation of his name and likeness is very important.

All information ever submitted to Wikipedia from various sources has always been accurate and verifiable.

Hickory over the past week has made it impossible for info to be provided, has rejected verified information repeatedly in any form, has written insulting appropriate messages to those who attempted to submit and his behavior has been inappropriate across the board. 4 messages were sent to this account just today within an hour. After not receiving a direct response from this account, the final message was received from him highlighting the note and discussion with you. Where it seems he was covering himself and now this has gone to a conflict of interest status.

His message included something about “greatest musician”, which as you can see was never referenced and is untrue. The edits made were “minor edits” and was referenced as such upon submission.

Here is one of the messages received by this account, when he received no communication, he reached out to you, but he had already removed all the revisions.

Hickory wrote: Hi Jeanbeau. I thought we agreed that you would use Edit Requests on the talk page unless it is minor edits? By the way, adding references in your edit summary is okay but you need to cite them in the article as well. ((I made different small edits as time permitted which were all minor edits).Them all was removed rather than assisting with citing or asking we do so).

I made certain separate minor edits today including all verified links, direct references to the provided information that had been removed previously. Hickory still moved forward and removed all revisions after writing that it was ok to include the links in the submissions box as to what was changed. (As noted above).

Expecting this, I have included an accurate list of the minor edits made today with the included references in every instance. JeanBeau account:

https://www.aorheaven.com/index.php/englisch_a/beauvoir-jean-rock-masterpieces-vol-2.html

I have consulted my attorneys on this matter In regard to the questionable interference from this specific editor as it has been disturbing and Mr. Beauvoir’s protection of his name and likeness and reputation is at risk here.

We hope that you can help resolve these issues, remove Hickory’s access to this site and perhaps assign another administrator, as it is clear that his intentions are derogatory, causing unnecessary issues and not in the best interest of the information to be provided to Wikipedia readers.

Please advise. Thank you.
