[edit]

Dear Jeff560: Welcome to Wikipedia, a free and open-content encyclopedia. I hope you enjoy contributing. To help get you settled in, I thought you might find the following pages useful:

Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.

If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.

Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD! Michael 04:52, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. Themfromspace (talk) 04:37, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't block this user. He's not adding promotional material, he's fixing broken external links. Yes, he's probably the author of the site in question, but these links need fixing, and it doesn't matter who fixes them. --Zundark (talk) 09:07, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Edward F. Dunne (judge) with this edit, did not appear to be constructive, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. This issue was resolved long ago, but nevertheless here is an explanation. The man's name was not Edward, but Edmund, and the page has been corrected.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Beckley, West Virginia, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. Thank you. This issue was resolved long ago, but here is an explanation. I discovered that the Wikipedia article on Beckley included a lengthy history of the city that was copied and pasted verbatim from my own web page, and of course I was not happy about that. I was not credited, and I presume this is against Wikipedia policies. My web page that was copied is at http://jeff560.tripod.com/beckley1.html although back then it may have been at http://members.aol.com/jeff560/beckley1.html Jeff560 (talk) 21:21, 19 September 2018 (UTC) Jeff560 (talk) 21:20, 19 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Gulf High School (Florida), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kevin White. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Capt. Harold B. Jeffries House

[edit]

The sources show his name as "Harold" and not "Howard". If you think Howard is correct then find some sources that say it. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 08:22, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is telling me that you sent an email but for some reason I can't get any email at the moment (I'm not at home). It looked from what I could see from the Wikipedia message that you wanted me to move the article back to Howard. However, the sources I looked at showed his first name as "Harold". So if you had some sources that say his name was really Howard then it could be put into the article but as the registration is under Harold it should remain where it is. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 11:29, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This issue was resolved correctly a while back, but I am putting info here now to explain. The man's name was without any question Howard. I made a little web page just for Wikipedia editors at http://fivay.org/howard.html which provides proof and actually explains how the "Harold" error got started.
