James Norrington - Primary character?

One of the most common changes to Template:Piratescaribbean is moving James Norrington from "Other characters and creatures" to the list of primary characters. I am not fully acquainted with the series, so I thought I would ask for your opinion on whether he is a main character or not? --Dreaded Walrus ^{t c} 13:04, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Deleted scene? What's this?

Apparently, there is a deleted scene from DMC with Commodore Norrington asking if he can restart his career and Beckett replies that he has something better; so says the article on Norrington here. Brethren Court

Black Pearl 14, I understand that you think that the appearences section is important. I think that, too. However, I admit its too detailed and too large. I made an attempt to shrink it once, but I desided that it would be better to delete the section for now and add it again, though more appropriatly size, once or if the article is saved. Message posted on Deflagro's talk page: Rather than reference individual pirates in the List of pirates - although I'd still like to reference some of them - I've had a shot at compiling external links/reference material for pirates of that particular age period. Work so far on it is going on over on my sandbox.. your opinion would be most gratefully received (I'm more than a little paranoid about things getting deleted).

The Flying Dutchman

IT IS FANCRUFT! The "summary" for the ship's appearance in the films is extensive! Trust me, I used to be like this myself, and added fancruft to Lord Voldemort. When I did that, I made the page extra long and full of cruft that I even got into an edit war with editors. I left the page (being annoyed) and move to edit something else. The page is simplified to a good form and if it is reverted, I'm going to lable it as of of cruft. By the way, your very User Name screams you are a big Pirates fan, thus likeable to add fan cruft to Pirates pages. I said that the fact that the article was using two different tempuses for event that occured concurrently was stupid, not that anyone was stupid. Hi! Regarding "Disney Lawsuit"

I moved your comment from User:Disneysuit to User talk:Disneysuit, where it belongs. I don't think it's appropriate for Wikipedia editors to try to judge the legitimacy of the lawsuit; that's for the legal system to decide. What they should do is make Mathew/Disneysuit aware of Wikipedia's policies about notability, conflicts of interest, verifiability and autobiography. Since we're talking about a brand-new user making his first edits, we should assume good faith even if the contributions are in violation of the encyclopedia's policies and philosophies. In my opinion, it's unwise to immediately label them vandalism.

Mathew's claims received substantial media attention a few years ago so a reasonable argument could be made that a mention in Wikipedia is appropriate; however, many media companies are accused again and again of infringing on some earlier obscure work so I don't think every copyright infringement suit is relevant to the encyclopedia.

Right now I think the bigger issue is that Mathew/Disneysuit should be made aware that whether or not his dispute with Disney is sufficiently notable to be mentioned in Wikipedia, he should not be the one to write about it. So far I'm seeing a lot of ignorance about how Wikipedia works and not much willingness to try to abide by its policies. —Whoville (talk) 17:20, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
