A belated welcome!

[edit]
Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Jewish editor. I see that you've already been around awhile and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Again, welcome! Dougweller (talk) 18:24, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

[edit]

Please read WP:BLP, particularly where it says: " Categories regarding religious beliefs and sexual orientation should not be used unless the subject has publicly self-identified with the belief or orientation in question; and the subject's beliefs or sexual orientation are relevant to their notable activities or public life, according to reliable published sources." Are you sure that you've followed this policy? Dougweller (talk) 18:26, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I have been following this policy --Jewish editor (talk) 18:27, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure I agree. Could you please hold off adding any more of these ethnic categories unless it is explicit that the policy has been followed? --John (talk) 18:35, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
All i have been doing is adding the African-American Jews category to articles about black Jews from the United States --Jewish editor (talk) 18:36, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Right, and I politely asked you to stop as I don't think your edits are in line with our policy WP:BLPCAT. Could you stop please? --John (talk) 18:38, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Let's put it more clearly: You will be blocked for repeated WP:BLP violations if this continues. Toddst1 (talk) 18:42, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Unless you have a citation in the article backing up a statement that she is both African-American and Jewish, no. Toddst1 (talk) 18:47, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Can I add the category African-American Jews to articles if I can find a citation stating the person is both Jewish and African-American --Jewish editor (talk) 18:48, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
