I had left an inquiry on 333-Blue's talk page regarding this draft but it seems haven't yet received a reply. The inquiry was as follows:

"My name is Jacqueline and I am the author of the proposed article for Wikipedia on “Michael A. Perelman, PhD”. I am writing to discuss why the draft of the article was initially rejected so that I may better understand what I must do to edit and improve it. Dr. Perelman is an alumni of my own clinical psychology program at Columbia University where I am completing my second year of graduate study. I first learned of Dr. Perelman’s work at Columbia. Recognizing him to be one of our most distinguished graduates I was shocked to find no entry when I attempted to learn more about his work online via Wikipedia. That is why I proposed this article, and would like to ask what references must be provided in order to fulfill Wiki’s requirements/what format should they be written in? I cited various sources that I was already able to obtain that illustrate the details of his career and publications (reliable and reputable academic sources like Cornell Vivo official website of Cornell University Medical College, Current Sexual Health Reports where he is the editor-in-chief [1], and the MAP Educational and Research Fund). The MAP Educational site (http://mapedfund.org) was created by Dr. Perelman, once he founded The MAP Educational Fund (http://www.mapedfund.org/mission). That foundation was approved by the United States Department of Internal Revenue as a 501(c)(3) public charity (Item No. 45-3265404, https://apps.irs.gov/app/eos/pub78Search). That is hardly the type of “self-published media” that Wikipedia understandably wishes to avoid. I would submit that he falls under the general exception rule as he does meet all the qualifications. He certainly has an exceedingly extensive Curriculum Vitae. I could request a CV from him and forward it to you, if that would help. I am sure he would accommodate such a request if it came from my own Columbia faculty supervisor as a co-signatory. Additionally, as all are in the public domain, I can also send PDFs of the actual publications. However, that may be superfluous as he has over 200, and 18 are only available as hardcover books. At your request I could also contact Dr. Perelman and get copies/images of the awards and certificates he has been honored with, if required to verify that information. That said, it would be my preference to not disturb this very prolific and distinguished person. Please let me know how to proceed so that I may re-draft the article and re-submit it successfully. Thank you!"

Just want to reiterate the request for guidance on editing the article in question. Thanks again! Jmv2170 (talk) 14:42, 18 April 2016 (UTC)jmv2170[reply]

Wikipedia content should be based on reliable third-party sources. All of the sources cited in the draft either provide only trivial coverage, say a directory entry that lists Perelman, or they are by organizations Perelman is affiliated with, such as his own charity or the university he works for. Those are precisely the kinds of self-published sources Wikipedia wishes to avoid. If, for the sake of argument, some of Prof. Perelman's positions were highly controversial and renowned professor John Doe had dismissed Perelman's opinion on some topic or other as "bumbling quackery", Perelman's foundation's website would be the last place where we'd learn about such a controversy. A CV written by Perelman would not help with these issues either. Much better would be media coverage of Perelman, possibly on the occasion of an award he has been honored with.
